Spokane Photographers Considered As Suspicious Al Qaeda Types

In the Soviet Union and communist countries, photography in public was considered suspect. It is now the same in the New Soviet Union, the United States of America, formerly the land of the free and the home of the brave, now land of the surveilled and home of the cowed.

As the web form below demonstrates, photography is now considered suspicious and possibly criminal, the same as theft and physical intrusion.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office may actually believe a certain number of photographers are working for al-Qaeda – or the Sovereign Citizens movement – but the actual reason for listing such normally innocuous behavior as suspect is to get subjects of the state to realize they are living in a dictatorship… minus all the Stalinesque statues. Texas House Bans Offensive And Illegal Security Patdowns By TSA!

AUSTIN (AP) – The Texas House passed a bill that would make it a criminal offense for public servants to inappropriately touch travelers during airport security pat-downs.

Approved late Thursday night, the measure makes it illegal for anyone conducting searches to touch “the anus, sexual organ, buttocks, or breast of another person” including through clothing.

It also prohibits searches “that would be offensive to a reasonable person.”

The bill’s chief sponsor is Republican Rep. David Simpson, who said, “this has to do with dignity and travel, and prohibiting indecent, groping searches.” He believes it will keep Transportation Security Administration officials from treating travelers like criminals, though the measure may be superseded by federal law.

After a brief but raucous debate, lawmakers approved the measure with little opposition — drawing applause from supporters.

Texas Rep. Ron Paul announced Friday that he will run for the GOP nomination for president in 2012, the third attempt for the man known on Capitol Hill as “Dr. No” for his enthusiasm for bashing runaway spending and government overreach.

“Time has come around to the point where the people are agreeing with much of what I’ve been saying for 30 years. So, I think the time is right,” said the 75-year-old Paul, who first ran for president as a Libertarian in 1988.

Paul made his announcement in an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America” from New Hampshire, where he planned his first event for his presidential campaign on Friday.

Three years ago, the former flight surgeon and outspoken critic of the Federal Reserve became an Internet sensation – and a prodigious fundraiser – when he made a spirited but doomed bid for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination. First elected to Congress in 1976, he is known for holding unconventional views while keeping a smile on his face, espousing a sort of modern Republican populism.

The obstetrician has delivered more than 4,000 babies and is personally against abortion, but he doesn’t think the federal government should regulate it. That’s a function of state government, he says. He has also said he wants to abolish the Internal Revenue Service, favors returning the United States to the gold standard in monetary policy and wants the U.S out of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Democrats have tried repeatedly to beat him in a congressional district that stretches from the outskirts of Corpus Christi to Galveston. But the independent swath of coastal Texas seems a good fit for the maverick doctor. He has 18 grandchildren, according to his website, and he and his wife of 54 years, Carol, are known widely in Paul’s district for the cookbooks they give away to supporters.

“The secret to his success is his authenticity,” said Democratic consultant Jeff Crosby, who grew up in Paul’s district. “He’s an authentic nut.” Crosby, who worked to defeat Paul in 2006 — unsuccessfully — described the difficulty he had trying to persuade voters to reject what he thought were the candidate’s radical views.

“Just the mere fact that he does what he says he’s going to do, regardless of how nutty or ineffective it may be, they like it,” Crosby said. “A lot of folks along the coast have never expected much from government, and they’re getting it.”

Paul, a native of Pittsburgh, is both a spiritual father and actual father in the tea party movement. His son, tea party darling Rand Paul, won a Senate seat in Kentucky last year and has become an ardent proponent of spending cuts and smaller government. As far back as 2007, long before people were evoking the fabled Boston Tea Party to symbolize their disgust with an overtaxing central government, Ron Paul was hosting a “Tea Party Fundraiser” aboard a shrimp boat near Galveston.

Organizer and Paul campaign volunteer Elizabeth Day remembers that supporters wore period dress and rolled fake barrels of tea into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. “When people come to believe in Ron Paul, there is a passion that burns within us,” said Day, a 57-year-old oil company revenue analyst. “To me, Ron Paul is the tea party.”

The elder Paul has built coalitions that include senior citizen “granny warriors” and pot-smoking libertarians. During his 1988 presidential run, High Times magazine, which caters to marijuana users, published a cover story under the headline, “Ron Paul: Pro-Pot Presidential Candidate.” Paul has expressed the view that the states, not the federal government, should regulate vices like pornography and drugs.

What sets Paul apart most from his GOP brethren are his views that defense spending needs to shrink and that the U.S. should get out of its two wars. Paul says the conflicts are financially unsustainable — and another drag on a battered U.S. dollar that he believes is on the verge of collapse.

He also disputes a fundamental underpinning of the war in Iraq, namely that Islamic terrorists must be stopped overseas before they can attack the United States. “They came over here because we were over there,” Paul said in the run-up to the 2008 campaign. “We occupy their territory. It would be like if the Chinese had their navy in the Gulf of Mexico.”

Paul has routinely turned down pork-barrel spending for his own district, but he has earned praise at home for refusing to sign up for lucrative pension benefits to which he is entitled as a member of Congress. Paul took a break from the House after his failed 1988 presidential bid but was re-elected in 1996.

Though he has voiced support for term limits, Paul has been in Congress for almost 30 years. Thanks to a law first crafted for Texas-born President Lyndon Johnson, he was able to run for the House and the presidency at the same time in 2008. Supporters figure he’ll do the same in 2012.

Former Texas GOP gubernatorial candidate Debra Medina counts herself among the die-hard Ron Paul followers who won’t let age, unconventional views or the professed tea party proclivities of other candidates shake her away from the soft-spoken presidential contender. “All the Republicans say we need to reduce spending,” said Medina. “They talk about it, but they don’t actually deliver on those promises. He’s different.”

U.S. Government Ordered Cell Phone Tracking Over A Decade Ago

Forget the iPhone scandal, the FCC mandated that all wireless carriers be able to locate their users way back in October 2001… The controversy generated as a result of computer researchers discovering a hidden file that allows Apple to track the location of iPhone and iPad users has been treated as a shocking revelation by the media, and yet since October 2001, the FCC has mandated that all wireless carriers track the location of their users down to within 50 feet.

“Stunned iPhone and iPad owners have only just found out that all of their movements are tracked and stored in a hidden iOS file which gets synced to their PC every time they connect the phone,” reports Gadgets and Gizmos. “The name of the file is Consolidated.db and it uses the Apple devices’ GPS function to record your location and the time you were there.”

The secret file was found by computer experts and made public at the recent Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco.

The Wall Street Journal expanded on the revelations surrounding Apple on Friday by reporting that Google’s Android smart phones also, “Regularly transmit their locations back to…Google, according to data and documents analyzed by The Wall Street Journal—intensifying concerns over privacy and the widening trade in personal data.”

Technology writers are seemingly baffled as to why top smart phone producers like Apple and Google are tracking the movements of their users, while lawmakers have also begun asking questions of Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

A bizarre initial reaction to the story from some quarters of the media and industry centered around the suggestion that the hidden file was “actually a bug which Apple should be looking to fix,” a theory dismissed almost instantly after it was confirmed other smart phone manufacturers were also tracking their users and that such efforts were “clearly intentional, as the database is being restored across backups, and even device migrations.”

Indeed, as much as a year ago Apple admitted to the fact that it “intermittently” collects location data, including GPS coordinates, of many iPhone users and nearby Wi-Fi networks and transmits that data to itself every 12 hours, according to a letter the company sent to U.S. Reps. Edward Markey (D-Mass.) and Joe Barton (R-Texas),” reports the WSJ.

Google’s HTC Android phones collect location data every few minutes and transmit that information directly to Google several times an hour, including the unique phone identifier, meaning that Google can keep tabs on the movement of a known individual almost constantly. Since people now ubiquitously carry their cellphones everywhere they go, this is akin to having a tracking microchip implanted in your forehead.

However, far from being a recent phenomenon, as the media would have us believe, tracking of individuals via their cellphones has been going on for almost ten years at least.

Under the 1996 Telecommunications Act, the FCC mandated that by October 1, 2001 a quarter of all new cellphones be equipped with GPS functionality that would allow authorities to track the location of users. By the end of 2002, this became a mandatory requirement of all new cellphones.

As Geek.com reported back in October 2001, “Because cellphone calls to 911 (estimated at around 140,000 per year) do not give the 911 operator location information, the FCC mandated that wireless companies “be able to locate 67 percent of callers to 911 within 50 meters that elect the handset solution while those using network technology must be able to locate the caller within 100 meters.” Wireless companies must also have one-quarter of the new cellphones they offer equipped to provide that location information by the end of the year, and all new cellphones so equipped by the end of next year.”

As a PC World article written in August 2001, two months before the first phase of the new FCC rules were enacted, asked, “The FCC requires cell phone companies to track you, in order to find you when you call 911–but what about your privacy?”

“Cell phone tracking was propelled by the Federal Communications Commission, which adopted enhanced 911 rules to cover wireless services. For E911′s first phase, cellular carriers must be able to pinpoint, to the nearest cell tower, the location of someone calling 911. For Phase II, carriers must be able to pinpoint a 911 caller’s location to within 50 to 300 meters,” states the article.

Your cellphone has been tracking you in real time for the lion’s share of the last decade, so why has it taken the media nearly 10 years to notice? Because in 2001, when such measures could have been made illegal, there was no iPhone, there was no app store, and the smart phones being used were extremely crude compared to today’s models, which are no less than mini-laptops.

In 2001, cellphones did little else than make calls and send text messages – these services didn’t require GPS technology. People weren’t addicted to their cellphones like they are today, they didn’t use them to catalogue, record and process every aspect of their existence.

The likes of Apple have worked hard over the last decade to make hundreds of millions of people dependent on their gadgets, creating an army of addicts who couldn’t care less that their cellphone is transmitting their every move directly to Steve Jobs. In their eyes, the choice between sacrificing their privacy and sacrificing their precious “apps” is an easy one to make. Privacy can’t book a table at a restaurant in a few taps of a finger, nor can it tell you the weather forecast or where the nearest ATM is located.

If the debate had been allowed to run its course in 2001, when cellphone tracking was first being adopted, the outcome may have been different. But since cellphone companies have been tracking their users for the best part of a decade, in line with government mandates, the recent controversy is merely part of the acclimatization process to achieve calm subservience and acceptance of the fact that true privacy is dead, and as Henry Blodget explains, Apple’s omnipresent brainwashing campaign has helped keep the outrage to a minimum.

Waco, Tx To Libya: Eighteen Years Of “Humanitarian” Mass Murder

“The Davidian cult in Waco was dealt with by armored vehicles,” remarked Muammar Gaddafi in February, defending his own crackdowns in light of the U.S. government’s. April 19 marks eighteen years since the end of the Waco siege and exactly one month since Obama began bombing Libya. Now that the federal government is again shedding blood in the name of humanitarianism, we might reflect on how it obtains legitimacy for its most brazen acts of violence.

Long ago, when governments slaughtered the enemy merely for being different and thus subhuman or for occupying desired territory, such crude rationales satisfied the states’ agents and subjects. The modern democratic state, however, employs more sophisticated propaganda when it burns, gasses, shoots, and bombs people including civilians.

There is always the excuse of security: the targeted people pose a threat. When this argument seems tenuous, it is well complemented by that most insidious of pretenses: The killing is done for the good of others. It is an act of kindness. The American empire, like the Roman and British before it, inflicts violence to civilize and rescue those in need.

Along these lines even the unparalleled mass death of World War II has been vindicated. Since then most U.S. killing sprees have been directed against Hitler’s ghost. Saddam Hussein and Slobodan Milosevic were both compared to the Nazi ruler. So were David Koresh and Muammar Gaddafi.

Killing Children To Stop Child Abuse

In the case of Koresh, leader of the Branch Davidian church at Mount Carmel, Texas, the comparisons to Hitler were especially strained. Yet everything about the siege just outside Waco, aside from its humanitarian rationale, seems to have been forgotten.

Sure, the religious group was “stockpiling weapons.” One of them was a legal arms dealer. But why didn’t the cops just arrest Koresh while he was hanging out around town? He was an integrated member of the community. Local law enforcement befriended him. The feds were given intimate access to the Davidians’ home – even enjoying a stint on their firing range with Koresh – and he welcomed them to inspect the property.

The raid commenced on February 28, 1993, not out of anything approaching necessity, but because the ATF wanted to look good for the cameras. “Operation Showtime” was the name of the long-planned attack on the Davidian home. Its main purpose: to overcome the bad publicity the agency had suffered over allegations of sexual harrassment and racism.

The feds had constructed a model of the Davidian home where they rehearsed the raid, whose planning began late in the George H.W. Bush administration. But the raid went horribly wrong. The Davidians fought back – apparently in self-defense, which is why when the ATF ran out of bullets, the Davidians ceased fire, and let the agents leave their property in peace.

Soon enough the domestic siege looked militaristic even by modern American standards. It was full-out psychological warfare: The FBI took over and cut off the Davidians’ access to the press, to water, to phone calls with relatives or lawyers. They blasted recordings of loud, obnoxious music and the sounds of animals being slaughtered. They shone bright lights upon the home all night.

They called it a hostage situation, but people trying to leave the building were typically met with flash-bang grenades thrown at them by the feds.

The siege ended on April 19, 1993, after the FBI spent hours pumping flammable and poisonous CS gas into the area where women and children had gone for safety. Then the Bureau rammed a tank and launched incendiary devices into the home. The Davidians also had Coleman lanterns in nearly every room, which could have easily fallen over in the chaos, and various combustible chemicals stored in the gymnasium.

Although Clinton blamed the Davidians for starting the fire, the flames erupted in a manner consistent with the tank’s collision into the building. There is no credible evidence that the Davidians were planning a mass suicide by fire, and all the survivors have denied that they were. As researcher Carol Moore put it, “There is no doubt that Mount Carmel was systematically turned into a fire trap. The only question is, was it done through criminal negligence or with intention to commit mass murder?”

Some survivors convicted in the mockery of a trial have only been out of prison since 2007. Within government, however, no one even had his wrist slapped. Most Americans assume that the government was negligent at worst, and that even this can be forgiven, since the FBI, with military assistance, was attempting a rescue of the innocent. You see, as we’ve been reminded many times, David Koresh was molesting children.

The first argument behind this accusation concerns Koresh’s multiple young wives. Jack Harwell, the Sheriff of McLennan County, explained why we should not excuse the raid on this basis:

“To this day, we don’t have a case that we can make against Vernon Howell [David Koresh] or anyone else for child abuse even though the news media here and other people were saying this is what happened. A man from Australia said this is what happened. But we can never get them to give us anything more that just “we know that’s what happened.” You have to have proof to go into court…

“Keep in mind, too, that most of the girls who were involved were at least 14 years old and 14-year-olds get married with parental consent. So if their parents were there and letting things happen in the way of sexual activities and what have you with their 14-year-old kids, you have common law husbands and wives. Uh, I don’t say that I agree with that and that I approve of it. But at the same time, if parents are there and they’re giving parental consent, we have a problem with that in making a case.”

There are more serious allegations of abuse, but they too are questionable. On the first day of the 1995 Congressional hearings on Waco, Democrats attempting to whitewash the Clinton administration’s conduct brought out Kiri Jewell, who accused Koresh of having molested her when she was ten. No charges of this nature had been pressed against Koresh.

However, during the standoff, Jewell, who was not living at Mount Carmel at the time, had appeared on The Phil Donahue Show while her dad pitched their story to the television networks. On the show, she said she expected to be one of Koresh’s wives at age 13. In another public statement, she said that while living with the Davidians she never expected to live past 12.

Despite all this, Jewell’s testimony forever colored the mainstream perception of the Branch Davidian Church as a cult of child molestation, which somehow is supposed to make the federal killing less objectionable. The public assumes these allegations are true and no due process is necessary to conclude that the FBI, a heroic if flawed institution, swept in to stop a monster from abusing minors.

Presumably, had those children not been gassed, suffocated and burnt to death, they along with the surviving kids would have been exposed to Koresh’s torment. This narrative is hardly questioned now and it was hardly questioned then: Not only should we believe all of the government’s accusations about Koresh, but those charges somehow mitigate what happened in 1993 when more American civilians died at the hands of the federal government than in any confrontation since Wounded Knee.

Bombing Libyans To Save Libyans

Eighteen years after the flames of Waco, we again see the federal government killing in the name of human rights. Practically no one questions the utilitarian calculus of this altruistic butchery. Most critiques of the Libya war concern strategic prudence, legal issues, or the fiscal price tag.

Should we leave unchallenged the characterization of Obama and NATO as protectors of the innocent? In particular, we hear that Operation Odyssey Dawn prevented Gaddafi from massacring large numbers of civilians in Benghazi. Almost everyone takes it for granted.

To be sure, Gaddafi is a dictator and thug, who indeed killed hundreds of rebels before U.S. cruise missiles hit Tripoli. But would he have slaughtered tens or even hundreds of thousands, as was suggested and claimed, if not for Obama’s intervention? Stephen Walt shares his compelling doubts:

“Although everyone recognizes that Qaddafi is a brutal ruler, his forces did not conduct deliberate, large-scale massacres in any of the cities he has recaptured, and his violent threats to wreak vengeance on Benghazi were directed at those who continued to resist his rule, not at innocent bystanders. There is no question that Qaddafi is a tyrant with few (if any) redemptive qualities, but the threat of a bloodbath that would “[stain] the conscience of the world” (as Obama put it) was slight.”

Other scholars have questioned Obama’s propaganda. University of Texas associate professor Alan Kuperman notes that Gaddafi “did not massacre civilians in any of the other big cities he captured – Zawiya, Misrata, Ajdabiya – which together have a population equal to Benghazi.” Human Rights Watch has recently released casualty figures on Misrata that bolster his point. Kuperman writes:

“Misurata’s population is roughly 400,000. In nearly two months of war, only 257 people – including combatants – have died there. Of the 949 wounded, only 22 – less than 3 percent – are women. If Khadafy were indiscriminately targeting civilians, women would comprise about half the casualties…

“Nor did Khadafy ever threaten civilian massacre in Benghazi, as Obama alleged. The “no mercy” warning, of March 17, targeted rebels only, as reported by The New York Times, which noted that Libya’s leader promised amnesty for those “who throw their weapons away.” Khadafy even offered the rebels an escape route and open border to Egypt, to avoid a fight “to the bitter end.”

Paul Miller, who served on Bush and Obama’s National Security Councils, intones that far from a genocidal clash, we are looking at a “Libyan civil war…between a tyrant and his cronies on one side, and a collection of tribes, movements, and ideologists (including Islamists) on the other.” (Incidentally, these opponents of Gadhafi’s regime, like practically all other insurgent allies of the CIA, are far from the angelic freedom fighters that the U.S. implies.

Their leader outright admits connections between his group and al-Qaeda, which has offered his rebels aid. The U.S. went to war with Iraq boasting of Saddam’s fictitious ties to al-Qaeda, a connection that was “proven” on the tortured testimony of Libyan al-Qaeda operative Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi. But unlike Saddam, America’s allies in the struggle against Gaddafi are probably tied to these Islamist killers.)

In any event, let us concede for argument’s sake that Gaddafi is precisely as diabolical as is claimed, and the dictator indeed wishes to wipe out as many innocents as possible just for the sake of it. Or let’s assume this was a reasonable inference when the NATO bombing began. Time and again we have been reminded that Benghazi is home to over half a million people. But does a large population mean they’d all be vulnerable?

Let us recall that Gaddafi is not Harry Truman. He has no nukes. As Seumas Milne put it: “Given that [Gaddafi’s] ramshackle forces were unable to fully retake towns like Misurata or even Ajdabiya when the rebels were on the back foot, the idea that they would have been able to overrun an armed and hostile city of 700,000 people any time soon seems far-fetched.”

Whereas the citizens of Benghazi have arms, like the civilians at Waco, they far outnumber Gaddafi’s forces, unlike the Branch Davidians against the FBI. Even if he wished to commit a Waco-like massacre of a whole city, Gaddafi had more effective limits on his killing than does the U.S. government.

The notion that U.S. bombs stopped Gaddafi’s murder of many thousands is more than dubious, and it was at the time the bombings began. Even if we believed the questionable claims about his intention to commit such an act, it is not clear how he was supposed to have succeeded. Yet simply by starting a war and saying it was to protect the innocent, Obama shifted public support of intervention against Libya from about 25% to about 60%.

Putting aside the suspicious claims of Gaddafi’s impending civilian massacre, we might wonder how many civilians Obama and company have actually killed in Libya. The NATO governments shrug off any reports of such casualties or deny them outright. Like its predecessor the Obama administration doesn’t do body counts.

What’s more, the U.S. intervention most likely “magnifies the threat to civilians in Libya, and beyond,” Kuperman argues, citing the Balkans in the 1990s and showing that foreign bombs often exacerbate ethnic cleansing and civilian massacres.

Indeed, U.S. involvement appears to have prolonged the bloodshed in Libya. Although Obama denied the goal was regime change, he now says Gaddafi must step down to end the war. Gaddafi has offered a ceasefire to the rebels, who rejected it, probably knowing that the U.S. will support them so long as they resist until the regime is toppled.

People can freely argue that U.S. intervention has preempted Gaddafi’s impending genocide, but the burden should be on them to prove it, and as with Kosovo, they have not done so. To the contrary, Gaddafi has seemingly focused his violence on the rebels, whereas the U.S. central state is not always so discriminating.

At Waco, dozens of children were snuffed out. In Iraq and Afghanistan, hundreds of thousands of innocents have died in wars based on lies. In Obama’s drone attacks in Pakistan, ten civilians die for every “militant” killed, even according to moderate estimates by very mainstream sources.

That these “militants” are a threat to the United States government is never demonstrated, but let’s assume they are. The ratio of unarmed, innocent bystanders to belligerents killed by the United States is higher than that of which Gaddafi is guilty in Misurata.

Why do people believe the U.S. government’s propaganda about Libya when every single major military intervention it has conducted has exacerbated the problems on the ground or at least added to the death toll directly? Why is the mere assertion that a massacre is being averted a license for the U.S. to drop at least hundreds of bombs?

18 Years Of Murderous Salvation

The American belief in benevolent mass murder is not a partisan disposition. Most liberals and conservatives alike take it for granted that, while the federal government’s armed agents sometimes act recklessly or carry out mistaken orders, their acts should never be seen as murder.

The assumption is nearly universal that Obama, Bush and Clinton, whatever their partisan opponents might think, are not mass murderers in the mold of Gaddafi, or cult leaders along the lines of Koresh, when in fact our presidents are far worse than either of these men in terms of cultish power as well as sheer body count.

All three of these chief executives, and many before them, have commanded the loyalty of far more subordinates willing to die on their orders than Koresh ever could, and have extinguished more innocent lives than Gaddafi ever did.

Waco and Libya are only the first and latest examples of U.S. humanitarian atrocities in the post-Cold War era. In both situations, we see the U.S. government leaving behind rubble and death, and the chattering classes agreeing that Washington has the innocents’ best interests at heart, even as it imposes sanctions on civilians or cuts them off from water, disregarding the very humanity of the victims of Uncle Sam’s explosions. When D.C. kills it is never seen as when others, whether private American citizens or foreign despots, do it.

When a private religious separatist allegedly molests children, it is an excuse for gassing children to death. But when the federal government molests children it is merely airport security. When a foreign dictator is allegedly about to kill tens of thousands of innocents, it is an excuse for another non-defensive U.S. presidential war. But when the U.S. government kills millions through sanctions, chemical warfare, conventional bombings and depleted uranium, it is simply the mainstream foreign policy consensus at work.

It is particularly hard to cut through these double standards when left-liberal presidents kill, as both sides of the spectrum benefit from pretending that these politicians are less trigger-happy than the conservatives. Yet Clinton and Obama have both revealed themselves to be as bloodthirsty as the Bushes before them.

Whether using the military to police the world or militarizing the police here at home, the federal government’s favorite activity appears to be killing. Thanks to the domestic precedent of Waco and the foreign-policy traditions of the last few presidents, there are now essentially no limits on the power of Washington to kill men, women and children, at home and abroad, and get away with it in the court of public opinion. Nothing gives the executive branch the free hand to snuff out human life like the promise of humanitarian salvation.

Some seek to evade and appease Draconian oppression; hoping it will find their fellows before it finds them. Maybe things will change before that happens. There’s always hope. Some would rather strike blows against the empire but recognize the futility of individual action as any more than a rallying point once they’ve been dispensed with.

Of course, others would prefer to become barnacles on the great ship of state, or occupy a near religious position of ‘nearer the trough to me, nearer to me’ and then there are those who are the direct practitioners of the mischief to begin with. A few choose to live outside the matter entirely, also hoping that mischance or pervasion won’t somehow sweep them up in the net.

There’s no getting around the fact that from a certain wide perspective, things have gone horribly wrong. I’m no Dr. Pangloss, but I do try to believe that everything is perfect; I just can’t see it. I don’t mean to say that everything is actually perfect; it would take a rare and enlightened mind to make that case. What I mean is that everything is outworking and in-working toward perfection, as it takes its own sweet time about it (grin). Well, you don’t have to worry about the seeming lassitude of the cosmos on that account anymore. Time is speeding up and conditions are keeping pace.

If things seem to be moving faster, it’s not because they’ve all of a sudden gained some mysterious acceleration, even if that might be true to a degree. The fact is that for a few decades now, deluded individuals and groups have been industrious about setting the stage for an Orwellian nightmare and now they are on the move. Part of that is the result of emerging powers at other points on the Earth. Part of it is the revolutionary fever that is a reaction to naked oppression and part of it is the population/resources dynamic. My take is that it’s only the cosmos driving the good, the bad and the indifferent toward their appointed destiny. The mysterious power of the universe is pressing on everyone, externally and internally, to declare the nature of their being and intentions, so that they can be sorted out for the benefit of the coming age; an age of universal brotherhood.

I’ve seen any number of people who carry on about how the unions, especially government workers, have too much of what too little there is. That is hardly the problem, no matter how you look at it, unless you actually believe the rich and powerful still don’t have enough and deserve more. Maybe you believe that anyone can be successful and rich if they just apply themselves and the reason they are not, is that they do not apply themselves. That’s bullshit. The bankers play with the money flow and create untenable conditions that make such a scenario more and more difficult by the day.

It’s not the unions and the entitlement programs and the demanding poor, along with the prosperous (snicker) middle class that is the problem. The problem is the blood sucking corporations who moved the manufacturing base into Third World sweat shops to maximize profits. The problem is the banks that squeeze every dime in fees they can get out of the population on which they feed and they are assisted in this by the outlaw, law makers who pocket their portion of the swag as a result. The problem is the media, which is an extension of the government, which is an extension of the corporations and banks and which spins transparent lies and discord among the populace. In other words, while you are getting the shit beat out of you, you hear, ‘who are you going to believe, me or your lying flesh’? The problem is insane wars for profit, which take the canon fodder and war expenses out of the lives and pockets of the people, who have little say in the matter and then the arms merchants, bankers and sundry rake in the swag and nothing comes back.

No capitalist system can prosper or endure for long without a prosperous middle class. This is what America ‘had’. Greed however, never loses its appetite and so the corporations eventually bought the governments, lock stock and barrel, even though they owned the majority shares to begin with.

The absolute disgrace of people making billions of dollars a year and ‘actually’ paying few, if any taxes, is a symptom of terminal illness. Without fair and able dealing, the table upon which it takes place is soon sold off for parts. Your system is a dead man walking and that is why perpetual war is the only reaction possible, for the people at the top. Meanwhile, a fascist police presence and constant over reaction, become the order of the day at home; grope fests at the airport to protect you from something that doesn’t exist, except when the government needs to stage it, in order to ratchet up the abuse, random highway stops for the citizens, while the given reason for them moves with impunity where it will.

It’s a simple process to stop the whole thing. The public simply agrees not to pay their taxes, in emulation of the ones who put them in the situation they are in and the public refuses to go to work, thereby bringing down the government. You don’t need guns and you don’t need tanks or airplanes, all you need is to stop contributing to the operating funds of the machine that is grinding you to powder, while it poisons the world in which you live. You can’t do this after you are dead. You have to do it while you are still alive.

It’s simple. It’s extremely simple. The problem is that any movement that comes along to benefit the people is immediately co-opted by those oppressing them, who bribe and threaten the leaders. Maybe you could do without leaders for a little while and activate some kind of stadium wave, flash mob principle, except, instead of showing up somewhere, you don’t show up at all and instead of rising in sequential order, you don’t rise at all. Then perhaps the cosmos will lift you up? I don’t know. It’s worth a shot. Look at where you are now. Intimidation is the nature of the beast in these times. Intimidation is government and corporate policy. I suggest that an entire country that suddenly refuses to participate can be pretty intimidating too.

What follows this is that you very swiftly have to demand the dissolution of the central banks and a coming to heel for the corporations. Government power has to be limited and the original documents have to be brought back into operation. In order to do this you have to get rid of The Supreme Court and you have to, top to bottom, clean out the court system. You have to get rid of every politician who doesn’t support the public’s revolution and you have to put constraints on what’s left as well. Israel has to be cut loose completely, because it is an organized crime syndicate that’s taken control of the country(s). State rights need to become preeminent so that localities can live with what they want to live with and not what the majority prefers go elsewhere. Political correctness needs to go to the auto da fe.

Can America and the Crown Colonies accomplish this? They still think their real enemies come from a scorpion infested wilderness of tribal nomads, instead of being home grown. If you can’t accomplish it, you are screwed. You might as well make your funeral preparations now, unless the cosmos wants to step in and the cosmos is stepping in but that means; earthquakes, plagues, famines, wars and marauding bands of road warriors picking the bones of the carcass.

On the one hand, it looks like it all just has to come down and frontier justice needs to be extended to the predators. On the other hand, perhaps that’s all going to be taken care of. On the other hand, I don’t know. These are just things to think about and consider. In any case, the people who most need to read these things will never find their way here but, maybe the cosmos has plans in that regard too.

It comes down to what you can live with. It’s a matter of how much you can take. You’ve got to make up your own mind and so do your neighbors. These predators are not going to suddenly stop being what they are. That’s their nature too. Well, it’s actually a perversion upon Nature and Lady Nature is going to have something to say about that as well. I don’t know where the safe places are and I don’t know what shape it’s going to take. That’s not my department. Stop, look and listen.

In a special video address, Alex Jones terms the al Qaeda intelligence operation a ‘Swiss army knife’ for destabilization. Simply put, it is a tool to foment crisis that allows the globalists to offer up a solution in variable contexts.

Today, freelancers in Libya; yesterday, terrorists in the “War on Terror.” Before that, allies against Serbia; in the 80s, Freedom Fighters.

The shadowy enemy supposedly run by Osama bin Laden and top jihadists like Anwar al-Awlaki is really an extension of U.S. foreign policy and the Pentagon.

Al Qaeda shifts across the geopolitical chessboard at the will of its masters in the allied-international intelligence ring. It is perhaps government’s greatest hoax… but the tactic is one of the oldest tricks in the book for any power-seeking State…

For the average person who has lived through the phony ‘War on Terror’, a post-9/11 age of fear that has swirled around the persona of bin Laden, it may be quite confusing to now read headlines like Libya: the West and al-Qaeda on the same side. Indeed, the rebel forces trying to topple Gaddafi admittedly include more than 1,000 al Qaeda soldiers while enjoying total backing – weapons, planes, funding and forces – from the U.S., Britain, NATO and other allies. The CIA and British SAS forces that are now “officially” entering Libya as ground support were covertly operating at least a month ago.

However, the Pentagon-run al Qaeda hoax has a deeper history than can be covered in just a few minutes of airtime. As we cover some of the highlights of al Qaeda’s duplicitous history, consider these conflicting statements from two U.S. Presidents about the Taliban / al Qaeda (albeit from different points in time):

“They hate our freedoms — our freedom of religion, our freedom of speech, our freedom to vote and assemble and disagree with each other.”
– George W. Bush, Address to a Joint Session of Congress and the American People, September 20, 2001

“These (Taliban) gentlemen are the moral equivalents of America’s Founding Fathers.”
— Ronald Wilson Reagan in 1985 while introducing the Mujahideen leaders to media on the White House lawn

The answer to the contradiction is learning to embrace the deception as truth, whenever the State says to do so, just as Winston Smith finally “learns” in 1984 – when he is compelled to find that 2+2=5. His torturer, O’Brien, tells himYou are a slow learner, Winston.’

‘How can I help it?’ [Winston] blubbered. ‘How can I help seeing what is in front of my eyes? Two and two are four.’

‘Sometimes, Winston. Sometimes they are five. Sometimes they are three. Sometimes they are all of them at once. You must try harder. It is not easy to become sane.’

Karl Rove, a key architect of the Bush Administration, known glowingly as “Bush’s Brain”, chastised reporters in 2002 who tried to appeal to the “reality-based community” in the face of a President who, according to Ron Suskind of the NY Times expressed to high level members of Congress, aides and the like that he didn’t need the facts:

The aide [Rove] said that guys like me were “in what we call the reality-based community,” which he defined as people who “believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.” I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. [Rove] cut me off. “That’s not the way the world really works anymore,” he continued.

“We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality — judiciously, as you will — we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.”

Unbeknownst to the media at that time, Rove was operating on behalf of a government that was not only arrogant, but had taken a page directly out of George Orwell’s 1984. America’s enemy Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda were remarkably like Emmanuel Goldstein, arch-villain of Oceania in 1984.

Goldstein [or bin Laden] was “commander of a vast shadowy army, an underground network of conspirators dedicated to the overthrow of the State.” An enemy that couldn’t be found, killed or slowed from influencing new conspirators at every turn. “Somewhere or other,” Orwell wrote, “he was still alive and hatching his conspiracies.”

“Goldstein was delivering his usual venomous attack upon the doctrines of the Party — an attack so exaggerated and perverse that a child should have been able to see through it, and yet just plausible enough to fill one with an alarmed feeling that other people, less level-headed than oneself, might be taken in by it… Goldstein produced fear and anger automatically. He was an object of hatred more constant than either Eurasia or Eastasia, since when Oceania was at war with one of these Powers it was generally at peace with the other. But what was strange was that although Goldstein was hated and despised by everybody… his influence never seemed to grow less.”

In 1984, it was rumored that Goldstein, whereabouts unknown, might even be taking refuge somewhere within their own superstate itself; consequently, “a day never passed when spies and saboteurs acting under his directions were not unmasked by the Thought Police.”

In contemporary America, the Department of Homeland Security now takes that possibility as its directive, screening and searching ordinary people everywhere in search of shadowy al Qaeda or “homegrown terrorists.” Just as in 1984, children were trained to be spies to rat out suspicious adults.

Behind the hoax contrived to control party members and maintain power, Winston’s torturer and member of the inner-party, O’Brien, confessed that he had personally taken part in writing Goldstein’s outlawed book – a lie to serve the State. It was necessary for the controlling party to create a living myth that portrayed Goldstein as a classic, evasive “external enemy”.

The utility of the external enemy has been noted by many, including the Club of Rome, who wrote in 1991 that “Humans only truly unite when faced with a powerful external enemy…At this time a new enemy must be found, one either real or invented for the purpose.” Henry Kissinger likewise quipped at Bilderberg in 1991 that the United Nations might seize upon an “outside threat from beyond” to unite the peoples of the world.

Thus, the steady diet of propaganda, including the Two Minutes Hate that daily featured new installments of Goldstein’s crimes and heresies. In 1984, Goldstein was:

“…almost on a level with Big Brother himself, and then had engaged in counter-revolutionary activities, had been condemned to death, and had mysteriously escaped and disappeared. The programmes of the Two Minutes Hate varied from day to day, but there was none in which Goldstein was not the principal figure. He was the primal traitor.”

O’Brien proclaimed during Winston’s torturous re-education sessions that: “Goldstein and his heresies will live for ever. Every day, at every moment, they will be defeated, discredited, ridiculed, spat upon and yet they will always survive.” Bin Laden has been patently the same archetypal enemy – despite being wanted dead or alive (Bush, Sept. 18, 2001), armies can’t find him [TIME 2002] after a decade.

Admittedly fake videos with bad look-alikes and audio recordings supposedly sent by bin Laden surfaced routinely just before elections (Tom Ridge later admitted that terror threats were elevated to help Bush’s re-election bid) or when the American people needed a reminder of the threat of terror. Prior to the admissions, analysts correctly suspected that al Qaeda video logos matched the signature of the CIA-linked Intel Center, revealing an unholy connection at the source of the video-taped threats.

Despite the fact that bin Laden had reportedly died and had been in the hospital on kidney dialysis in 2001, Osama bin Laden remained a nearly omnipotent villain in Bush Administration communiques. His survival as the external enemy, like Goldstein, was almost guaranteed because it empowered the State’s official fairytale and enabled action on wide-ranging controversial policies with little scrutiny. Ultimately, in 1984, Goldstein is of no material relevance; his real purpose is to induce submission to the party-led Oligarchical Collectivist State.

Doublethink: Al Qaeda The Ally – Al Qaeda The Enemy

The real Osama bin Laden is a Western-trained CIA asset with the declassified code-name “Tim Osman.” He was chosen to lead the Mujahideen / Taliban in Afghanistan, in part, because his wealthy family has been a long-term business partner to key families in the West, including the Bush family (Carlyle Group). In fact, George H. W. Bush, the father, had been meeting with one of Osama bin Laden’s brothers on the morning of 9/11. The real Mujahideen has been used for a variety of Western-backed political purposes, namely upheaval and regional-destabilization.

Back in 1979, al Qaeda, in the form of the Mujahideen / Taliban, were America’s secret weapon in Operation Cyclone. It was geopolitical strategist Zbigniew Brzezinski, then National Security Advisor under Carter, who schemed to draw the Soviet Union into a trap that might bleed them dry. Brzezinski gave an interview to France’s Le Nouvel Observateur in 1998, unapologetic about their covert aid to the Mujahadeen six months before the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. Here is a segment of that interview:

Q: You don’t regret anything today?

Brzezinski: Regret what? That secret operation was an excellent idea. It had the effect of drawing the Russians into the Afghan trap and you want me to regret it? The day that the Soviets officially crossed the border, I wrote to President Carter: We now have the opportunity of giving to the USSR its Vietnam war. Indeed, for almost 10 years, Moscow had to carry on a war unsupportable by the government, a conflict that brought about the demoralization and finally the breakup of the Soviet empire.

Q: And neither do you regret having supported the Islamic [integrisme], having given arms and advice to future terrorists

Brzezinski: What is most important to the history of the world? The Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet empire? Some stirred-up Moslems or the liberation of Central Europe and the end of the cold war?

Q: Some stirred-up Moslems? But it has been said and repeated: Islamic fundamentalism represents a world menace today.

During the Reagan years, they were Freedom Fighters, public heroes heralding the possibility for democracy to spread overseas in resistance to Communism. Reagan even dedicated the launch of the space shuttle Columbia to the Afghans, in the name of the ‘highest aspirations of freedom.’ In 1985, Ronald Reagan said the men in the Taliban’s ranks were “the moral equivalents of America’s Founding Fathers.” These men were supported openly for a decade as the Soviets met ‘their Vietnam’ in Afghanistan…

Freedom Fighters In Afghanistan

As Kurt Nimmo writes: “Osama bin Laden ran MAK (Maktab al-Khidamat), an organization created by Pakistan’s ISI at the behest of the CIA. It funneled money, weapons, and internationally recruited fighters into the war created in part by Jimmy Carter’s National Security Adviser, Zbigniew Brzezinski. Osama was closely tied to the Afghan warlord and ISI stooge Gulbuddin Hekmatyar who ran drugs for the CIA. In the 1980s, emissaries from the United States met with Osama. The CIA paid Osama to train the militant group Abu Sayyaf and others at his CIA-built camps in Afghanistan. In New York, Osama’s MAK operated the CIA-connected al-Kifah Refugee Center that was involved in the 1993 WTC bombing. The U.S. government would later call the al-Kifah charity the “precursor organization to al-Qaeda.””

The 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center was exposed as another cruel hoax. In 1993, the FBI became, at best, dangerous enablers as they undertook a “sting” operation to allegedly prove the culpability of the suspects. Even Wikipedia admits that harmless powder was swapped with real bomb material. FBI informant Emad Salem became alarmed at the introduction of real explosives and recorded his conversations with the F.B.I. proving they enabled and allowed the bombing to go forward that killed 4 people.

Simultaneously, by the late 80s and early 90s, al-Qaeda, under U.S. orders, “migrated to Bosnia, hoping to assist their Islamic brethren in a struggle against Serbian [and for a time] Croatian forces.” Al Qaeda was still a U.S. and Saudi-backed ally circa 1999 that backed the Albanian KLA in terrorist acts in the war-torn Yugoslavian region, even up to the time of NATO’s bombings, despite growing concerns about terrorism, including the impact of the 1993 WTC bombing. With Serbia – former Yugoslavia still fresh in the public mind but the Pentagon-al Qaeda connection largely in the shadows – the USS Cole was bombed in October 2000 in a Yemeni port. The act of terror against the United States would be blamed on Osama bin Laden, rogue heir to the wealthy family known for their business with big Western players (like the Carlyle Group, etc.).

The 9/11 attacks hit. It was instantly blamed on Osama bin Laden. Endless contradictions to the official government account emerged over the coming hours, days, weeks and years for now almost a decade, without any sign of accountability or truth in the officialdom anywhere in sight. In addition to gross contradictions to the laws of physics in the collapses of WTC towers 1, 2 and 7, details came forward about how the accused hijackers were trained at U.S. bases, lived with FBI informants, were given VISAS and let past borders despite being on the watchlists; the hijackers were identified by U.S. intelligence agencies [Able Danger, et. al.], but their warnings were ignored (and much, much more: prior knowledge, warnings, drills, etc., etc., etc.).

While rallying the public behind a war in Afghanistan, and soon in Iraq as well, the Bush Administration clandestinely let members of the bin Laden family quietly fly out of the United States, even while all other flights were grounded. It would be revealed in articles about the “Airlift of Evil,” that U.S. forces also covertly exported Taliban forces from Afghanistan to Pakistan; meanwhile, U.S. soldiers where geared up to search in caves and rugged terrain for a shadowy enemy in the “graveyard of empires“; as of 2011, the deadline for leaving Afghanistan continues to roll back.

As noted earlier, embarrassing leaks emerged casting doubt on the validity of al Qaeda’s jihad against America, as the Bush Administration continued to hype the threat of terror without pause. Controversial measures, including the Constitution-shredding Patriot Act, warrantless-wiretaps of U.S. citizens, torture (Obama refused to investigate the crimes of the Bush Admin.) and indefinite detention and other devastating attacks on the “hated freedoms” of Americans continued seamlessly under Barack Obama.

Nearly every major terror plot uncovered domestically has, in fact, turned out to be a contrivance by the FBI where it sets-up a sting and encourages its patsies to carry out an attack. The “close calls” on American soil since 9/11 have largely been connected to Anwar al-Awlaki, who it was revealed, dined with Pentagon brass in the months after 9/11.

The Underwear Bomber who tried to blow-up a Detroit-bound plane was given VISA clearance by the State Dept. despite being on the watchlist; witnesses Kurt & Lori Haskell watched Abdulmutallab being helped on the plane by a “sharp-dressed man” who was most likely an intelligence agent. They also witnessed other suspects/patsies who were never mentioned in the mainstream media.

The key questions their verified account raises may never be addressed, as the accused Abdulmutallab is attempting to represent himself in court. Hoaxes and inconsistencies have been raised around the cases of the Fort Hood shooter, the Times Square bomber and many, many others. Even Geraldo Rivera of Fox News has noted that the FBI’s pattern of sting operations are ‘bogus’.

Homeland Security took on a greater role, imposing absurd and unpopular TSA body scanners and groping pat-downs on travelers. DHS has furthered rolled out checkpoints, mobile x-ray vans on public streets and highways (including pedestrians), on trains, buses and boats, as well as at sport stadiums, hotels and shopping malls and beyond.

In 2011, George Orwell’s “War is Peace” mantra is upgraded once again, as the Nobel Peace Prize winner President Obama expands war into Libya under the Orwellian-guise of a “humanitarian crisis,” imposing a no-fly zone (which immediately gave way to full scale bombings and then ground forces).

Americans, Westerners and the world at-large must scratch their heads once again as wars in Iraq and Afghanistan not only continue, but the West finds an unlikely ally against Col. Gaddafi in rebels made up of al Qaeda forces. A new robotic flying drone, styled like a seagull, has arrived on the scene. It doesn’t squawk, poop or steal french fries from your hand, but it’s an example of incredible bio-mimicking design that could be the future of airborne robots.

We’ve met a Festo robot before–a robotic manipulator/gripper arm with a design that’s heavily inspired by elephant trunk muscles–and so we know about the company’s penchant for using bio-inspired thinking in its robot engineering.

Festo actually has a whole suite of innovations under its Bionic Learning Network umbrella, but the Smart Bird is the most eye-popping among them. In fact the robot is so astonishingly convincing in flight it really could pass for a genuine seagull from a distance–a feat of biomimicry that Festo is clearly proud of. The company notes: “Festo has succeeded in deciphering the flight of birds.”

If true, that solves a riddle as old as time. The robot isn’t stuffed with helium, instead it relies on ultra-light materials like carbon-fiber and sensitive control electronics to give it a total mass of around 0.4 kilograms (33% less than an iPad 2). 

The design secret behind its seemingly effortless flight is the fact its wings don’t simply beat up and down like many other ornithopter designs (the technical term for flying drones like this) but they also twist at “specific angles” much like a real gull’s wing will do–positioning the wing tips at the best angle for generating lift and spilling less waste air.

An “active articulated torsional drive” is at the heart of it, aided by clever wing joints, accurate sensors for calculating the wing’s position in real time, and a low-weight motor that eats up just 25 watts. The bird even communicates its flight data back to the remote operator in real time, letting them adjust fine parameters like wing torsion in real time to achieve optimum flight.

Festo has created a technology demonstrator that illustrates how advanced flying robotics can be: The Smart Bird is highly aerodynamically efficient, even turning its head like real gulls do to refine aerobatic turns, and can take off and land by itself.

But if you think about the bigger implications of the robot, they’re pretty astonishing: Imagine a robot spy drone based on this technology, packed with an ultra-lightweight GPS system, more powerful battery and high-precision cameras and microphones. The kind of covert surveillance data it could gather would be impressive–and more stylish than every other spy drone out there.
