Obama Has “24 Hours” To Stop A War From Breaking Out In Korea

with 2 comments

December 19, 2010: Mike Whitney / Global Research – December 19, 2010

Realizing that its plan to intimidate North Korea has backfired and brought the peninsula to the brink of war, the Obama administration is now looking for ways to ease tensions.

But South Korea’s tough-talking President Lee Myung-bak has not been deterred and plans to go ahead with the controversial artillery tests on Yeonpyeong Island on Monday or Tuesday.

The North has warned that if the drills proceed, then they will retaliate with a second and third “self-defense counterattack….that would be deadlier than the strike on Nov. 23.”

The State Department has defended Seoul’s plan to conduct the artillery operations saying, “A country has every right to train and exercise its military in its own self defense”, but the administration is worried that a flare up of hostilities will quickly escalate into a full-blown conflagration.

So, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson has been dispatched to Pyongyang along with Wolf Blitzer and a team from CNN to (presumably) offer Kim Jong il inducements to back down.

So far, there is no indication that Richardson is making progress in his mission, which the State Dept (absurdly) describes as a “personal trip”. Needless to say, the New Mexico governor has not gone to North Korea to work on his tan. He’s there because Washington has no other way to throw water on the blaze that it created with its provocative joint military operations.

Blitzer’s role in the fracas is to invent a narrative that will divert public attention from the crisis that Obama’s lieutenants created. It’s CNN’s job to show that the North is “giving in” when in fact it is the Obama team that is back-peddling as fast as possible, even to the point of breaking it’s word on bilateral negotiations.

Richardson’s appearance in Pyongyang is proof that bilateral negotiations are taking place right now. This is from the Korea Times:

“Bill Richardson, the New Mexico governor who is currently visiting North Korea, reportedly made some proposals to North Korea, amid high tensions on the Korean Peninsula as South Korea plans a live-fire drill…

“According to CNN, Richardson met with North Korea’s top nuclear negotiator Kim Kye-gwan for one and a half hours and said he would expect the current tension would lessen if his proposals are accepted by North Korea, Yonhap said…Richardson didn’t disclose what the ‘proposals’ were…” (Korea Times)

“Proposals”? What sort of proposals is Richardson offering on his “personal trip”? The State Dept. is lying about Richardson’s role which is clearly official. Richardson is trusted by Pyongyang because he worked on Clinton-era negotiations for the “Agreed Framework”, the seminal US/North Korea bargain which the US stubbornly refuses to honor. This is the crux of the matter—the US will not fulfill its obligations under the terms of the deal.

As for Blitzer: Here’s an excerpt from a CNN article on Sunday which demonstrates Wolf’s prodigious abilities as state propagandist:

“Pyongyang, North Korea (CNN) — A top North Korean general offered Sunday to help return the remains of several hundred U.S. troops killed during the Korean War, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson said…

“Maj. Gen. Pak Rim Su told Richardson that the bodies were discovered recently in North Korea…Richardson, who is meeting with officials in North Korea to help ease tensions in the region, described the offer as a ‘very positive gesture.'” (CNN)

The North hasn’t softened its position at all. This story is pure diversionary fluff. CNN is merely trying to spin the story to save face for Obama. Meanwhile, the North has deployed additional troops to the west coast in preparation for the drills which will take place on Monday or Tuesday. The military is on high alert. This is from another CNN report:

“A North Korean spokesman over the weekend said that the planned military exercises were a ‘sinister design’ to violate the Korea Armistice Agreement and ‘ignite war at any cost’…

“The shelling to be perpetrated by the puppet forces of South Korea at last, trespassing on the prohibiting line would make it impossible to prevent the situation on the Korean Peninsula from exploding and escape its ensuing disaster…North Korea blamed the United States for allegedly egging on the South Koreans.” (CNN)

The US has repeatedly bullied the North with sanctions, added them to the State Dept’s list of terrorists, forced them from the Nuclear non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), disparaged them to the world as a member of the “axis of evil”, and threatened them with regime change.

But now that North and South are sliding inexorably towards war, Washington has done a quick about-face and is looking to the United Nations Security Council to bail them out. Surely, Kim must know that the UN is just another stick that Uncle Sam uses to beat his enemies.

As of this writing (Sunday morning) South Korea’s military has confirmed that it will “go ahead with its planned live-fire drill off a Yellow Sea border island, despite strong reactions from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea” (DPRK)This is from the Korea Joongang Daily:

“’If North Korea attacks the South over our exercise in our territorial waters, we will counter it not based on the rules of engagement but in terms of exercising our right to self defense,’ said a (South Korean) military official…

“In the event of an attack, the Army will fire its K9 howitzers and multiple rocket launchers. A single shot of the Multiple Launch Rocket System is capable of destroying an area twice the size of a football field, the military said…’No matter what happens, we will go ahead with the firing exercise,’ said a top official at the Ministry of National Defense.” (Korea Joongang Daily)

The situation is grave. Barack Obama has 24 hours to stop a war from breaking out on the Korean peninsula…

Reuters: Island Fears South Korean Live Fire Drills

The Tonka Report Editor’s Note: As I’ve stated on several occasions previously concerning this escalation between the Koreas – if the US can successfully provoke a war, it would engage the US and China into a war via their proxies South and North Korea respectively.

The US would then default on the $1 trillion of their debt owned by China, and Israel would then attack Iran for supplying oil to China. This in turn would draw Russia into the fray and WWIII is on!

The full moon total lunar eclipse on the Winter Solstice, December  21, 2010, is indeed looking quite ominous, and could very well mark the official date of the full scale military beginning of World War III… – SJH

WikiLeaks: Julian Assange Is Granted Bail But Remains Locked Up?

with 2 comments

December 14, 2010: London Telegraph Editors / The London Telegraph – December 14, 2010

The 39-year-old Australian is wanted by prosecutors in Sweden over claims that he sexually assaulted two women.

At an extradition hearing at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court this afternoon, a judge granted him conditional bail, only for him to be told two hours later that he must remain behind bars pending the appeal, which must be heard within the next 48 hours.

Speaking outside the court, solicitor Mark Stephens said:

“Finally, after two hours we have heard that the Swedes will not abide with the umpire’s decision and they want to put Mr Assange through yet more trouble, more expense and more hurdles. “They clearly will not spare any expense to keep Mr Assange in jail. This is really turning into a show trial.”

Celebrity backer Jemima Khan said she did not want to comment further on the fresh bid for bail. She said: “There are people far more intellectual than me who have something to say today.”

Journalist John Pilger, who last week offered £20,000 to help raise bail for Mr Assange, said the unbalanced European arrest warrant is at the centre of the case against Assange. He said before bail was granted: “If he does not get bail, the battle will continue at the High Court and we will support him there.”

The award-winning journalist added that he feared Assange will ultimately be extradited to the United States, where he could face life in prison. He accused the Obama administration of a “vindictive” attitude towards whistleblowers. Mr Pilger added: “The Swedes have managed to contravene almost every human right in this case – congratulations, Sweden. It is chaotic.”

Gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell said he was drawn to support the case because of the importance of exposing human rights abuses. He said: “It is very important to defend WikiLeaks when it is exposing criminals and human rights abuses…War criminals, corrupt officials and human rights abusers are walking free, no one is taking them to court…The man whose website helps to expose their wrongdoing has been held in prison facing extradition.”

Gavin Macfadyen, of the Centre for Investigative Journalism, said he has offered a substantial surety. He said: “I am a great believer in whistleblowing and the protection of whistlelowers…Julian Assange has provided the most secure platform we have ever seen for people with a crisis of confidence to tell the public their concerns. And I think he is a nice guy.”

Assange was bailed on condition he provide a security of £200,000 to the court and guarantee two sureties, each of £20,000. His passport must remain with the police and he cannot apply for international travel, District Judge Howard Riddle said, at Westminister Magistrates Court.

He was told he must abide by a curfew and stay at an address in Suffolk. He will be tagged and must also report to a local police station every evening. He is due to appear at the same court on January 11 [2011].

The prosecution was given two hours to lodge an appeal. In the meantime, Assange will remain in custody. The judge’s bail decision was welcomed by supporters of the WikiLeaks founder outside the court. Ms Khan, who earlier offered a surety on behalf of Assange, said: “It’s great news. I can hear them all cheering outside.”

Novelist Tariq Ali said: “I’m very pleased that he is out. I think the extradition charges should now be dealt with in the same way…His barrister made the same point, that this is not rape under English law and there is absolutely no reason for extradition…We are delighted he is out and he should never have been locked up in the first place.”

Author Yvonne Ridley said: “It is a victory for common sense. If he had been refused bail, it would have meant the court had become a political arena.”

Gavin MacFadyen, of the Centre for Investigative Journalism, said: “I am very pleased and it is about time…We do not know what the prosecution will do now. And there is still a possibility of an appeal.”

Julian Assange Gets E-Tag, Curfew And £240,000 Bond On Bail

The Tonka Report Editor’s Note: This is unfolding as one of the greatest psy-ops of all time! Assange and WikiLeaks refuse to address 9/11 other than to parrot the “official” fairy tale, they are funded by George Soros, nothing released is derogatory toward Israel, the “secret” documents are all heavily redacted and reveal nothing not already known, and Iran is continually demonized. Now watch this…

Sex, Lies, Iran, Israel & WikiLeaks – Plus 9/11 (Extended HD Version)

Meanwhile, this charade gives the establishment the opportunity to shut down any dissent and real free speech on the Internet via using Assange and WikiLeaks as a false flag psy-op to wrest control of the world-wide-web by invoking “state’s secrets” concerns to further eviscerate the First Amendment. Iran Geo-Political Chess Game By Invoking 9/11 A US Checkmate?

with one comment

October 11, 2010: Eric Blair / Activist Post – October 11, 2010

Let’s set up the geopolitical chess board for a moment. Iran is a rogue nation according to the Western world. Which basically means that they sit on a sea of oil and don’t comply with the demands of the Western-based multinational oil firms. Iran has also made strong alliances with America’s oil-thirsty quasi-enemies China and Russia, while finding a partner-in-rogue in Venezuela.

To further aggravate the West’s agenda for global dominance, Iran’s banking system is not compliant with the private international banking cartel, therefore they can’t be enslaved by debt — the preferred method of ensuring nonviolent compliance. However, the West has recently captured a banking pawn by blacklisting the Iran-owned German-based EHI Bank under the authority of economic sanctions and accusations of benefiting from “weapons proliferation.”

Oh, and you may have also heard that Iran has achieved nuclear power against the will of the West — which seems to be the only storyline we’re allowed to discuss in the mainstream media — when will they have a nuclear weapon and how, when, and what is Israel and the West going to do to stop them?

Saturday’s Associated Press release summarized the current situation which is unfolding more like a spicy espionage novel everyday with embedded spies, highly developed computer viruses, and CIA kidnapped defectors refusing to be spies and much more diabolical intrigue:

“In recent weeks, Iran has announced the arrest of several nuclear spies and battled a computer worm that it says is part of a covert Western plot to derail its nuclear program. And in July, a nuclear scientist who Iran says was kidnapped by U.S. agents returned home in mysterious circumstances, with the U.S. saying he was a willing defector who was offered $5 million by the CIA but then changed his mind.

“The United States and its allies have vigorously sought to slow Iran’s nuclear advances through U.N. and other sanctions out of suspicion that Tehran intends to use a civil program as cover for developing weapons. Iran denies any such aim and says it only wants to generate nuclear power.”

Although Iran has always maintained that its nuclear program is for civilian energy purposes, it seems that if you’re a country who possesses natural resources like oil and wish to remain a sovereign nation, you must at least give the appearance of being capable of defending against outside threats — much like Saddam’s apparent illusiveness but actual impotence regarding Iraq’s WMDs. Ultimately, the West wanted Saddam’s resources, so they just took them by force.  And now, the West’s oil companies are being “awarded” with rich drilling contracts. In other words, checkmate.

The AP article also made breaking news that Iran has agreed to nuclear talks with the U.S. and other U.N security council countries:

“Tehran said Saturday that it was ready to hold nuclear talks with the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council – the U.S., Britain, France, Russia, China – as well as Germany in late October or early November. Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said the precise date was being discussed by the sides.”

Why is Iran now willing to have open discussions with the U.S. and the security council? Could it be that Iran finally feels like they have their foe’s king in check? It seems the move that puts them in this new found power position was Ahmadinejad using the grand U.N. stage to question the official events of 9-11, thus the pretext to invade Muslim lands. He laid out the following three scenarios about 9-11 which prompted the U.S. delegation to walk out in protest:

1 – That a “powerful and complex terrorist group” penetrated U.S. intelligence and defenses.

2 – “That some segments within the U.S. government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy and its grips on the Middle East in order also to save the Zionist regime. The majority of the American people as well as other nations and politicians agree with this view.”

3 – And, that the attack was the work of “a terrorist group but the American government supported and took advantage of the situation.”

It appeared that the establishment media didn’t really know how to handle Ahmadinejad’s comments. Of course they did their best to attack and label him as a conspiracy theorist, but they didn’t want the story to get too loud.  Since the media blackballs any guests that question 9-11 and violently shouts down anyone who dares bring up the subject, they’ve been able to essentially ignore and shape the topic as ludicrous.

Obama did his part to discredit Ahmadinejad’s statements by calling them “hateful” and “offensive.” Finally, the establishment media also tried to create the absurd impression that, “If you want further investigation into the biggest terror event ever, you must be with the terrorists and Ahmadinejad.” It seems that they are desperately running out of moves.

In turn, the problem for the establishment’s version of events is that the polls show Ahmadinejad to be correct that the majority of the global population now questions 9-11. One does not have to necessarily believe in any of the competing “conspiracy” theories to be 100% sure the official account is bogus. That’s precisely what gives Iran power. A power they used again recently when a spokesman for the Iran Foreign Ministry reiterated the claim that more than fifty percent of Westerners were now “suspicious” of the “dubious” nature of the 9-11 event, as reported by Press TV:

“Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast says half of people in Europe and America are suspicious of the September 11 events in the United States.

“’Many in the West blame the US government in the occurrence of the September 11 incident,’” IRNA reported Mehmanparast as saying at a press conference in the Iranian city of Isfahan on Thursday.

“He also made a reference to the recent visit of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to New York for a United Nations General Assembly session on the UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and said President Ahmadinejad’s ‘trip to the UN was a good opportunity to set forth Iran’s public diplomacy, which conveyed Iran’s message to the world.’”

“The spokesperson further pointed to the ‘dubious’ nature of the 9/11 event and said, ‘The US government needs to allow for the clarification of ambiguities regarding the incident and to refrain from jumping into hasty conclusions.’”

So, the more the establishment media continues to forcefully squash any legitimate questions about the greatest crime in modern history, the more guilty they appear of a cover-up.  Protecting their fictional account that was used to justify endless preemptive wars, torture, and the illegal surveillance of American citizens is becoming an impossible defense tactic. And Iran, armed with the truth that the official story is clearly untrue, now seems to have a stronger board position.

It will be interesting to watch if the West makes any concessions in the coming nuclear talks, and if Iran quits stoking the 9-11 truth debate — “we’ll keep quiet about 9-11 if you loosen some of the draconian sanctions on our country.”

United States Propaganda To Strike Iran Is Now Bordering Insanity

leave a comment »

February 20, 2010: Kurt Nimmo / Infowars – February 20, 2010

It looks like years of incessant propaganda about Iran seem to have paid off. According to a recent Gallup poll, Americans consider Iran to be the “least liked” nation on the planet. “Canada retained its top position in Gallup’s annual country ratings, with 90% of Americans viewing it favorably, unchanged from 2009. Iran continues to rank last, with 10% this year,” Gallup reports. Even the reclusive totalitarian state of North Korea fared better than Iran.

Is there a rational reason for Americans to rate Iran unfavorably? Most Americans know little to nothing about Iran beyond what they are fed by the corporate media. I bet most of them would be unable to find the country on a map. In addition, according to a recent CNN poll, an astounding 71 percent of Americans believe Iran currently has nuclear weapons, a belief that is seriously at odds with the facts. The poll is testament to the effectiveness of unrelenting propaganda pushed by the corporate media.

The corporate media has increasingly called for bombing Iran. For instance, on February 9, the supposed liberal New York Times ran an editorial calling for crippling economic sanctions on the Iranian people and hinted at the prospect of attacking the country. “Enough is enough. Iran needs to understand that its nuclear ambition comes with a very high cost,” the newspaper opined.

The New York Times, with the neocon operative Judith Miller on-board, ran a number of propaganda pieces making the case that Iraq had WMDs when in fact it did not. Miller resigned from the newspaper and now appears as a regular on Fox News.

Our rulers hate Iran because it refuses to take orders from the bankers and their international organizations such as the United Nations and the loan sharking operations known as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Saddam Hussein found out what happens when Muslims are too proud and refuse to take orders from Wall Street and the City of London.

The leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said recently that “the Iranian nation’s resistance to the West set an example for the generation to come of how to confront pressure by reliance on its own capability and a divine source,” reports Press TV.

Khamenei said Iran’s resistance will “awaken the spirit of dignity in the whole Islamic Umma as our nation’s efforts have led to the Islamic vigilance” among other Muslim nations.

The United States and its junior partner Israel have pushed the specter of an Iranian nuclear weapon and the supposed threat this would pose to the world for several years now. During the Bush years, this insane notion was primarily confined to the neocons, but since the election of Obama it has spread to liberals and Democrats. The bomb Iran chant is now becoming a nearly universal mantra within the political establishment.

Liberals and Democrats quite naturally oppose war and illegal mass murder campaigns when they are proposed by neocons and Republicans. But as Clinton’s invasion of Yugoslavia revealed, Democrats are all for serial murder when the call is made by the leader of their party.

A new regime at the UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency has produced a report saying Iran is working toward a nuclear weapon. In the recent past, the IAEA said there was no evidence Iran was attempting to build a nuclear weapon. This conclusion was backed up by a 2007 National Intelligence Estimate from the U.S. intelligence community that said Iran abandoned its nuclear weapons program years ago. “When asked if the White House believes the IAEA report or the 2007 NIE estimate, officials had no comment except to suggest that they were looking forward to the new NIE on Iran, which they said was in the works,” reports The Washington Post.

In other words, the next NIE estimate will probably agree with the IAEA. Critics of NIE estimates complain that the reports are subject to political polarization. Case in point: the October, 2002, NIE argued that Iraq had an active WMD program. Assertions that Iraq had chemical and biological weapons were essentially the same conclusions reached by the United Nations and numerous intelligence services.

It turned out Iraq did not have WMDs. It was all propaganda designed as a pretext to invade and occupy a country decimated by more than a decade of sanctions that resulted in the death of more than a million Iraqis, 500,000 of them children.

The United States is now pushing for crippling sanctions against Iran. “The White House has begun circulating sanctions against Iran as part of its pursuit of United Nations-backed punishment for Iran’s secretive pursuit of nuclear weapons,” Fox News reported on Friday. “We are internally and with partners beginning the process of thinking through what are the appropriate elements of pressure,” said Susan Rice, Obama’s foreign policy adviser and United States Ambassador to the United Nations. “And that will be a process that will continue over a period of time and I think we should be realistic about the pace.”

The U.S. cranked up the pace on sanctions after Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Iran is sliding into a military dictatorship. Two days later, on February 16, Clinton said Iran is working toward the development of a nuclear weapon. Clinton made her remarks after Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reiterated that Iran was ready to suspend enrichment if it could exchange its low-enriched uranium stockpile for processed fuel rods from abroad.

On February 9, Obama declared that he’s “bent over backwards” to engage Iran in “constructive” dialogue and the U.S. will push in the United Nations to sanction the country. Bush era leftover Robert Gates at the Pentagon added the White House has gone further than any administration to reach out to Iran.

Mohammad Nahavandian, an Iranian businessman, said today that sanctions will not cripple the country’s economy. “It has been proven that the Iranian economy is not sanctionable… the stated goal of sanctions is political, which has never been achieved,” Nahavandian told Reuters in an interview.

Nahavandian said Iran was increasingly dealing with non-western countries, including Asian and regional countries. China, a veto-wielding member of the U.N. Security Council, is reluctant to approve further sanctions on Iran. Trade between Iran and China is now over $28 billion. “With indirect trade, it may be about $31 billion, which is above the trade with the European Union,” Nahavandian noted.

Bush era neocons are pushing hard for a mass murder campaign against Iran. “America’s central focus must be to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons in the first place,” Bush era UN ambassador John Bolton wrote for The Wall Street Journal on February 9. “Doing so requires decisive, and likely military, action now, since there is essentially no likelihood that an Obama-inspired ‘regime of sanctions’ will achieve that objective. The U.S. must rigorously avoid ’sanctions’ or ‘pro-democracy’ rhetoric becoming excuses for American nonaction.”

It remains to be seen if the U.S. will attack Iran or simply muddle along with ineffectual economic sanctions. If the U.S. does attack Iran, however, the consequences will be great, as Russia’s General of the Army Nikolay Makarov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, said recently. Makarov warned that an American attack on Iran now, when the US is bogged down in two wars, might lead to the collapse of the United States.

Makarov made the remarks in Vzglyad on Friday, February 19, 2010, and they were translated or paraphrased by the USG Open Source Center:

“Makarov also commented on the recent rumors about the possibility of an attack upon Iran by the United States. In his opinion, this would be complete madness on the part of the American military. He said: ‘Admiral Michael McMullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, recently said that, in the United States, there is a plan for carrying out strikes against Iran but the United States clearly understands that now, when it is conducting two military campaigns, one in Iraq and the other in Afghanistan, a third campaign against Iran would simply lead to a collapse. It would not be able to withstand the strain.’

“Nevertheless, in proportion to the winding down of the campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan, (the plan for) a war with the Islamic Republic of Iran, in the opinion of General Makarov, may again come out to the foreground.

“‘General Makarov, Chief of the General Staff, said: “The consequences of such an attack will be terrible not only for the region but also for us. Iran is our neighbor and we are very carefully following this situation. The leadership of our country is undertaking all measures in order not to allow such a (military) development of events.’”

A collapse of the United States? Now that would put a definitive end to the murderous insanity that prevails in this country regardless of the regime in power.

It would also play into the hands of the global elite. They are determined to reduce the once great United States into just another third world backwater where poverty and immiseration reign supreme. Such an economic and military collapse of the world’s last remaining super power would set the stage for a world government long dreamed of by the globalist bankster cartel.

The Tonka Report Editor’s Note: First of all, 20% enrichment of uranium is in complete compliance with the NNPT for medical isotopes, which Iran under treaty is a member of, unlike Israel. Secondly, the leap from 20% enrichment of uranium to 98% which is needed for a nuclear bomb is like building a spaceship out of a bicycle. Third, Iran has not provacatively attacked another sovereign nation in 200 years… Wake up, America!SJH

The “Civilized World” Must Protect Iran And So Consequently Itself

leave a comment »

February 12, 2010: Lisa Karpova / Pravda.Ru – February 9, 2010

Just one look at the map will tell you…something ominous is brewing. Iran is completely surrounded by elements of the evil empire. Iran is on a hit list. Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the empire has drawn up a hit list after which several countries, one after the other, have been ravaged after a plethora of lies and deception. No doubt this hit list was drawn up in Tel Aviv.

In over 200 years, Iran has done absolutely nothing to infringe on its neighbors. However, quite the contrary is true. Iran has suffered regime change before at the hands of outsiders and has not forgotten it.

For more than half a century, Britain and the US have menaced Iran. In 1953, the CIA and MI6 overthrew the democratic government of Muhammed Mossadeq, an inspired nationalist who had the nerve to believe that Iranian oil belonged to Iran. They overthrew him and installed the venal Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and, through a monstrous creation called Savak, built one of the most vicious police states of the modern era until the current leadership formed the Islamic Revolution. Iran is a country of great history and culture, and a people that welcomed their Christian neighbors with open arms when they were under threat of total extinction.

Now we are supposed to believe that Iran has certain evil intents regarding Israel and incredibly the rest of the entire world. We are being lied to by the masters of lies, the father of lies. Let us start with this “wipe Israel off the map” stupidity to show the lowest depths these liars and merchants of war and genocide will sink. This is what President Ahmadinejad really said:

“Imam ghoft een rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods bayad az safheh-ye ruzgar mahv shavad.”

One word rings a bell here and stands out: rezhim-e. It is the word “Regime”, pronounced just like the English word with an extra “eh” sound at the end. Ahmadinejad did not refer to Israel the country or Israel the land mass, but the Israeli regime.

This is a significant difference, as one cannot wipe a regime off the map. Ahmadinejad does not even refer to Israel by name, he instead uses the specific phrase “rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods” (regime occupying Jerusalem). So this raises the question.. what exactly did he want “wiped from the map”? The answer is: nothing. That’s because the word “map” was never used. The Persian word for map, “nagsheh”, is not contained anywhere in his original Farsi quote, or, for that matter, anywhere in his entire speech. Nor was the western phrase “wipe out” ever said…
