Libya: “Humanitarian Intervention” Masquerades Murder & Plunder

March 24, 2011: Andy Dilks / Global Research – March 24, 2011

Image right: Downed F-15 Eagle fighter jet on Libyan soil, allegedly an American plane… Or was it? – SJH

On March 20th 2003 Western forces launched their “Shock and Awe” attack on Iraq, heavily bombarding Baghdad and elsewhere, massacring hundreds if not thousands of innocent men, women and children. On March 20th 2011 the very same forces attacked Libya, beginning what many believe will be yet another mass slaughter.

What is obvious to all but the most duped and apathetic is that once again we have another war launched by the imperialist powers thinly veiled as a “humanitarian intervention”, dressed up as a mission of peace driven by the use of heavy bombardment and murder, where the truth lies diametrically opposed to the propaganda being pushed by the mainstream media. Nothing is what it seems; the lies and deceptions are as Orwellian as ever. The similarities with Iraq go well beyond the date of the opening salvo – indeed, there are many consistencies between the current attack on Libya and numerous other military interventions and acts of aggression carried out by the US, NATO and their allies in recent years.

The propaganda currently being pumped out by the mainstream media, led by the usual suspects in the American corporate press and the liars and sycophants over at the BBC, is essentially a re-run of the Iraq invasions and Kosovo: a largely fabricated case for humanitarian intervention based on violence stoked by special forces troops and covert operations, with the consistent demonisation of the leader recast as a mass murdering tyrant to justify a heavy saturation bombing campaign in the name of human rights and justice. Any historical context that might cast the so-called “Allies” in a negative light – for instance large-scale sales of weapons to the new enemy figure – is carefully omitted from the narrative.

The assault on Iraq during the first Gulf War was launched on the back of Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait – an invasion carried out with the tacit support of the US, who then betrayed their puppet dictator and launched a huge slaughter, killing more than 100,000 people. The war was sold to the American public with a horror story in which Iraqi troops were accused of throwing Kuwaiti babies out of hospital incubators. Trouble is, the story was a complete fabrication, utilizing fake testimony from an unnamed nurse who turned out to be the daughter of the Kuwaiti Ambassador to the United States, coached by the public relations firm Hill & Knowlton, a company with a track record of providing services to notorious human rights abusers around the globe:

The Faked 15-YO Kuwaiti Girl Testimony Before Congress, 1990

And let’s not forget the fabricated “evidence” to justify the 2003 invasion – the non-existent WMDs, the yellow cake from Niger, the repeated, false association between Saddam and 9/11 … all since proven to be lies, and the occupation continues…

In Kosovo, the Western media went all out saturating their broadcasts of a photograph of a thin man behind a fence accompanied by cries of “concentration camps!” The truth was rather different: the ITN film crew were on the inside of a refugee camp, and had asked the man to take his top off to pose for the camera. The photo was another propaganda coup from the so-called “free press” of the West, which eventually led to a lethal 78 day bombing campaign which caused a fragmentation of the region from which they have yet to recover. Around the same time, NATO member Turkey – receiving some 80% of their arms from the Clinton administration – proceeded to murder, torture and massacre Kurds in untold numbers. There was no call for a humanitarian intervention there – after all, they were our allies.

In addition to such fabrications, the Western media conveniently omitted any mention of CIA/MI6 use of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA-UCK) to instigate violence in the region, subsequently used as part of the justification for the NATO “humanitarian intervention”. It should be noted that since this campaign KLA leaders such as Hashim Thaci and Agim Ceku have been tied to criminal syndicates involved in arms, drugs, and human trafficking, prostitution and illegal organ harvesting, in addition to the numerous war crimes carried out under the auspices of NATO. This blatant criminalization of Kosovo politics was carried out with the full consent of the EU and the US. It should also be noted that the US themselves described the KLA as a terrorist organization up until 1998, when Bill Clinton reclassified them as “freedom fighters” and unleashed them on the Serbs. NATO’s strategy of high altitude bombing quickly moved from legitimate military targets to the wholesale destruction of infrastructure, hospitals, television stations and civilians – all in the name of “humanitarian intervention” …

And as the historical record now shows, the refugee crisis and the swathe of massacres was precipitated by the NATO bombing campaign.

Similarly, the media build-up to the current attack on Libya has been characterised by the same level of fabricated propaganda against a backdrop of covert actions utilising known terrorist groups. The rebellion against Colonel Qaddafi, which the mainstream media would have us believe is a completely independent and organic grassroots uprising against a brutal oppressor, has actually been manipulated by agents from the CIA, MI6 and covert special forces groups such as the SAS for a number of weeks. A team of British SAS were recently arrested by Libyan rebels, echoing the arrest of SAS soldiers in Bazra in 2005, equipped with weapons, explosives and Arab-looking disguises, caught shooting at an Iraqi police checkpoint, in a textbook example of divide and rule tactics.

Arms and al-Qaida-affiliated fighters have also been flowing into the country to fuel the insurrection from Saudi Arabia and Egypt directly from NATO and other Western sources in an attempt to foment the overthrow of Qaddafi. There are additional reports that Israeli-affiliated African mercenaries have also infiltrated Libya to support the attempted insurrection. It is the reaction of the Libyan government – a completely justified response to a violent insurrection aided by agents from foreign governments with reciprocal force – that the Western press is characterising as the oppression of unarmed protesters.

Stories of atrocities carried out by Qaddafi have also turned out to be of questionable veracity, for instance the accusation that Qaddafi was using his air force to strafe crowds of protesters. These accusations remain unsupported, but that hasn’t stopped them being repeated ad nauseum across the mainstream media. If there is a grain of truth in them (and it’s not simply a case of Qaddafi’s forces legitimately striking back at armed, Western-backed “rebels”), one has to wonder why such a supposedly unpopular leader has recently handed out 1 million machine guns to the public to fight against a foreign occupation. Hardly the tactics of a dictator fearing overthrow from within. Perhaps the media will release photographic or video evidence supporting their claims, but if the past is anything to go by … well, perhaps they won’t.

Fox News got in on the act of making things up recently as well, using the well worn “human shields” hoax popular amongst defenders of Israeli barbarism towards the Palestinians. Fortunately, CNN correspondent Nic Robertson set the records straight:

Libya – Fox News Lies About A Report On Human Shields In Libya

A predictable but entirely unfounded response to the above observations is the accusation of being a Qaddafi sympathizer. Those who make such accusations are guilty of obfuscation and missing the broader point. Certainly, Qaddafi is no angel – likewise Slobodan Milošević and Saddam Hussein were guilty of despotism, crimes against humanity and more. But those who make such charges miss the irony of their rhetoric, given that they support the unbridled use of violence by far more powerful military forces against largely civilian populations, leading to death tolls that far exceed those committed by the puppet dictators they seek to overthrow. That these dictators and despots committed their own atrocities with weapons supplied by Western nations is never mentioned, for doing so would lay bare their hypocrisy. “We must kill to avoid killing,” is the ideology they promote, oblivious to the inherent contradiction that lies within.

This hypocrisy is plain to see in the recent release of photos of American troops in Afghanistan posing for trophy shots with murdered civilians. While the BBC are busy ramming down the throats of the public endless news about our impressive fighter planes and their “precision” bombing and manufacturing tales of massacres at the hands of Qaddafi, photos such as this are completely ignored:

US Army “Kill Team” Pose With Murdered Civilians

And of course, there’s little mention of the genuinely brutal oppression in places like Bahrain, where the Saudi military were called in to massacre protesters there, or the recent outbreak of airstrikes and incursions into Gaza by the IDF over the weekend. Because they’re our “allies” and their crimes – like our own – are completely permissible. Just another day in the Empire…

Libyan Civilians Shot Helping Downed F-15 Pilots

The Tonka Report Editor’s Note: Given the fact that Israel routinely flies unmarked aircraft, as well as F-15 Eagles, and the fact that the pilot’s names of the downed F-15 Eagle fighter jet have been conspicuously withheld to date, lends suspicion that given the lack of visible markings on the jet, and the subsequent brutal helicopter “rescue”, that this was actually an Israeli jet shot down over Libya! – SJH

Libya: Another “Humanitarian” War Based On Another Pack Of Lies

leave a comment »

March 20, 2011: Tony Cartalucci / Prisonplanet.com – March 20, 2011

America once again initiates a war unconstitionally as puppet Obama vacations in Rio on the taxpayer’s dime. It is past due to impeach the imposter right now! – SJH

The corporate-financiers are dangerously flirting with their entire official narrative collapsing, as their progressive, Peace-Prize wearing puppet President Obama and the “radical reformer” David Cameron lead yet another war based on an Iraq-style pack of lies.

After weeks of peddling a litany of verifiable lies, the West has forgone any attempt to justify or veil their actions in legitimacy and has decided to go ahead with a UN rubber-stamped “no-fly zone.” Far from having anything to do with preventing Qaddafi’s planes from flying, the no-fly zone has translated into full-scale missile and aerial bombardments across Libya aimed at turning the tide for freshly rearmed Western-backed rebels.

The Pack Of Lies

Indeed, the same London Telegraph now dashing across their headlines “Britain and America have rained missiles on Libya as Col Muammar Gaddafi defied the world and continued to attack civilians,” told us in the early stages of the US-backed Libyan unrest that Qaddafi had fled to Venezuela, citing “credible Western intelligence sources.

Of course, evidence that Qaddafi has been “attacking civilians” has not yet been produced in any way, shape form with US Department of Defense’s Robert Gates and Admiral Mullen in fact, both confirming “We’ve seen no confirmation whatsoever.” Additionally, BBC made an apparently little read footnote that their reports were impossible to verify.

BBC states in their article “The difficulty of reporting from inside Libya:” “The BBC and other news organisations are relying on those on the ground to tell us what’s happening. Their phone accounts – often accompanied by the sound of gunfire and mortars – are vivid. However, inevitably, it means we cannot independently verify the accounts coming out of Libya. That’s why we don’t present such accounts as “fact” – they are “claims” or “allegations”.”

Apparently “claims” and “allegations” are all the UN needed to rubber stamp yet another globalist war of conquest as they continue to sew together their one world government.

The Russian government went as far as bringing forth evidence that suggests such air strikes never even took place. As for the globalist-run media’s claims that Qaddafi fled to Venezuela, of course, Colonel Qaddafi is still obviously in Libya.

Even the globalist International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) made note in their 1 hour and 20 minute military briefing, that Libya’s Qaddafi was most likely going through extraordinary measures to avoid excessive civilian loses, so as to not play into the West’s desire for military intervention…

The Conflict In Libya And Military Options For The International Community

When the globalist policy wonks speak frankly, outside the short-attention span of the general public, they talk of Qaddafi’s professional forces taking special care to avoid civilian casualties knowing full well it will fuel calls for Western intervention. (@16:26)

Now, the typical ploy of accusing besieged nations of using “human shields” is already being oafishly employed by the likes of the Independent in their article “Libya: The UN strikes back.” The very title itself is misleading, as the UN was merely a tool used to justify and authorize an otherwise unacceptable war the US and UK populations would have categorically refused to enter. The ability for the US to circumvent its constitution (Article I, Section 8, Clause 11) along with the will of the American people points the finger of “illegitimacy” toward the West at least as much as it is being pointed at Libya’s Qaddafi.

What Can Be Confirmed?

What we can confirm, is that the entire Libyan rebel movement has been backed by the US and UK for nearly 3o years. We can confirm that the initial calls for a Libyan “Day of Rage” came not from the streets of Benghazi, but from the London based National Conference for Libyan Opposition (NCLO). We can confirm that NCLO leader Ibrahim Sahad was literally sitting in front of the White House giving an interview to the Western media in the opening stages of the Libyan unrest, parroting verbatim the West’s desire to militarily intervene with a no-fly zone…

Sahad: Gaddafi Will Not Survive Protests

Libyan opposition NFSL/NCLO leader Ibrahim Sahad, parroting the globalist calls for intervention in Libya, sits in front of the White House in Washington D.C.

We can also confirm that confessed terrorists like Noman Benotman, who had previously consorted with both the MI6 and Osama Bin Laden, are now offering their full support for the armed rebels in Libya. Ironically, Benotman’s support for armed militant rebels, including released Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) members, manifests itself through the “Quilliam Foundation,” which was founded in part to disband and disavow armed militancy.

It is quite clear that the globalists had decided part of their US State Department sponsored “Arab Spring” would include removing Libya’s Qaddafi from power. No reality on the ground will prevent the globalists from achieving this goal, including the necessity to send troops on the ground if the current bombing and missile campaign fails to tip the balance in the Libyan rebels’ favor. The corporate owned media has descended to a new level of unprecedented, shameless propaganda to hammer their misshapen agenda into an ill-fitting reality.

Remember Fukushima

The globalist “international community” and mandate has never been more clearly illegitimate, squandered, and abused than it is now. While Japan suffers the worst catastrophe in its history, a catastrophe that includes the largest recorded earthquake in human history, a devastating tsunami and multiple nuclear meltdowns, the West pursues with the entirety of its resources, energy, and influence a war of profit and expansion in Libya – under the poorly dressed guise of “humanitarian concerns.” As it has been pointed out, such concerns are unverified and entirely based on what the BBC itself calls “allegations” and “claims.” Meanwhile, an irrefutable, unprecedented humanitarian disaster unfolds in northeastern Japan.

As if meddling in a foreign nation’s affairs based on a pack of lies isn’t bad enough, doing so when resources are desperately needed amidst a real disaster amounts to the zenith of criminal negligence. The West once again proves they are the greatest purveyors of crimes against humanity, through simultaneous action in Libya, and inaction in Japan.

Such irresponsible leadership, with such self-serving priorities that clearly leave the vast majority of humanity out in the cold does not deserve our respect, our obedience, or our support. Identify the corporate-financier oligarchs that make up this malicious self-appointed “global consensus” and put them out of business via a full-spectrum boycott and by replacing them permanently on a local level. While millions suffer in Japan and millions are in danger in Libya today, failing to strip these tyrants of their unwarranted influence will inevitably ensure the suffering and danger comes to you.

Thank God For France: “Viva La Resistance!” – Take Note, America!

leave a comment »

October 23, 2010: Mike Whitney / Counterpunch.org – October 22, 2010

Thank God for France. While American liberals tremble at the idea of sending an angry email to congress for fear that their name will appear on the State Department’s list of terrorists, French workers are on the front lines choking on tear gas and fending off billyclubs in hand-to-hand combat with Sarkozy’s Gendarmerie.

That’s because the French haven’t forgotten their class roots. When the government gets too big for its britches, people pour out onto the streets and Paris becomes a warzone replete with overturned Mercedes Benz’s, smashed storefront windows, and stacks of smoldering tires issuing pillars of black smoke. This is what democracy looks like when it hasn’t been emasculated by decades of propaganda and consumerism. Here’s a blurp from the trenches:

Headline: “French Energy Sector Crippled by Nationwide Strike… French energy facilities are close to total disruption in the wake of nationwide strikes against the raise of the retirement age… France has been hit by numerous protests across the country against a controversial pension reform that would raise the retirement age to 62 from 60… On October 22, morning, 80 protesters blockaded Grandpuits oil refinery outside Paris, key supplier for Charles de Gaulle and Orly international airport.” (The Financial) – Shut ’em down!

Take note, Tea Party crybabies who moan about restoring “our freedoms” while stuffing the backyard bunker with seed corn and ammo. Glenn Beck won’t save you from the “mean old” gov’mint. Liberty isn’t free anymore. If you want it, get out of the barko-lounger and organize. The amount of freedom that any nation enjoys is directly proportionate to the amount of blood its people spilled fighting the state. No more, no less.

The man who is willing to accept the blunt force of a cop’s truncheon on his back is infinitely more praiseworthy than the leftist/rightist scribe crooning from the bleachers. The state isn’t moved by lyrical editorials or prosaic manifestos. It responds to force alone, which is why it takes people who are willing to “throw themselves on the gears” of the apparatus and stop it from moving forward. Unfortunately, most of those people appear to live in France.

The resistance is steadily building in France. The budding rebellion is cropping up everywhere—“secondary schools, train stations, refineries and highways have been blockaded, there have been occupations of public buildings, workplaces, commercial centers, directed cuts of electricity, and ransacking of electoral institutions and town halls…” And the big unions are calling for more strikes, more agitation, more ferment.

For more than a week, transportation has been blocked across France due to the protests by students and workers. Sarkozy’s popularity has plummeted. 65% of people surveyed don’t like the way the French president is handling the strikes. 79% of the people would like to see Sarkozy negotiate with the Union on terms and conditions, but he won’t budge. Thus, the cauldron continues to boil while the prospect of violence rises.

“STRIKE, BLOCKADE, SABOTAGE”

This is from an anonymous striker: “In each city, these actions are intensifying the power struggle and demonstrate that many are no longer satisfied with the order imposed by the union leadership. In the Paris region, amongst the blockades of train stations and secondary schools, the strikes in the primary schools, the workers pickets in front of the factories, people create inter-professional meetings and collectives of struggle are founded to destroy categorical isolation and separation. Their starting point: self-organization to meet the need to take ownership over our struggles without the mediation of those who claim to speak for workers.

“We decided Saturday to occupy the Opera Bastille. This was to disturb a presentation that was live on radio, to play the trouble makers in a place where the cultural merchandise circulates and to organize an assembly there. So we met with more than a thousand people at the “place de la nation”, with banners stating “the bosses understand only one language: Strike, blockade, sabotage.”” (end of communique) The action was met with predictable police violence and mass arrests.

The pension turmoil is not limited to France either. US pension funds are underfunded by nearly $3 trillion. Will US workers be as willing as their French counterparts to face the beatings (to defend “what’s theirs”) or will they throw up their hands and appeal to Obama for help?

There’s no question that Washington elites have joined with Wall Street to offload the massive debts from the financial meltdown onto workers and retirees. Nor is their any doubt that they will invoke (what Slavoj Zizek calls) a “permanent state of economic emergency” to justify their actions. That will allow them to move ahead with so-called “austerity measures” that are designed to impoverish workers and strip popular government programs of their funding. The trend towards “belt-tightening” merely masks the ongoing class war which is aimed at restoring a feudal system of royalty and serfs.

This is from an article by economist Mark Weisbrot: “If the French want to keep the retirement age as is, there are plenty of ways to finance future pension costs without necessarily raising the retirement age. One of them, which has support among the French left – and which Sarkozy claims to support at the international level — would be a tax on financial transactions. Such a “speculation tax” could raise billions of dollars of revenue – as it currently does in the U.K. – while simultaneously discouraging speculative trading in financial assets and derivatives. The French unions and protesters are demanding that the government consider some of these more progressive alternatives.”

But the retirement age is not really the issue at all. This is about union busting and “putting people in their place.” It’s about “who will call-the-shots” and in whose interests will society be run. The French are fighting back against this “oligarchy of racketeers” and the ripoff system they represent, while, namby-pamby Americans are neutralized by signing their umpteenth petition or venting their spleen at a Palin rally. Vive la France. Vive la Résistance!

Will American People Follow French Example Of Mass Civil Unrest?

leave a comment »

October 19, 2010: Paul Joseph Watson / Prison Planet.com – October 19, 2010

How will Americans react when the government begins to impose the same austerity measures that are causing riots, street battles, fuel blockades and other assorted chaos in France?

Will we witness mass civil unrest or will the sleeping middle classes continue to scratch their butts and watch Dancing with the Stars?

Back in June we forecast that the imminent onset of so-called austerity measures, which in reality represent nothing more than an elevated phase of government-run looting of the taxpayer, would herald an “age of rage,” leading to “riots and even revolutions as people react with fury in response to their jobs, savings, basic public services, pensions and welfare money being seized by the financial terrorists who caused the economic collapse in the first place.”

Four months later and citizens of one of the most prosperous countries in the world with the highest standard of living have shut down France after six days of strikes and protests in response to government plans to raise the retirement age from 60 to 62 and the full state pension age from 65 to 67.

Undoubtedly, there are two different protests occurring in France. The more violent scenes are the work of the rent-a-mob anarchist youths who couldn’t care less about pensions but will waste no opportunity to don black hoods and pointlessly smash up shop windows in demonstrations against “capitalism,” when in reality government seizure of pensions has all the hallmarks of command and control socialism and nothing to do with true free market capitalism.

These youths are more concerned about their welfare checks being cut, but they won’t garner the sympathy of the rest of the French people by taking baseball bats to Starbucks forecourts in mocked up media stunts. The legitimate protests and the ones that genuinely hurt the establishment and put the idiot anarchists to shame are being run by French workers, truck drivers, and union leaders, and enjoy the support of around 70% of the population.

Over a thousand gas stations have now run out of fuel across France, with strategic reserves set to last just a few weeks. Flights and trains have been disrupted, organized slowdowns have snarled highway traffic. The French are showing Americans how it should be done, by uniting peacefully to shut down an entire country. This is genuine people power – the French are sending a message to the establishment that they will no longer play ball until the looting stops.

France Clashes Turn More Violent

Will the rent-a-mob anarchists stage similar violent riots in America or will the middle classes embrace a much more legitimate backlash in the same vein as the union protesters in France?

With the Obama administration set to seize private 401(k) pensions and turn them over to the Social Security Administration, how long will it be before Americans stir from their slumber and realize that their economic future and also that of their children is in immediate peril?

When will Americans begin to understand that the onset of another government bailout in the form of QE2 represents the biggest bank robbery in history? Just how distracted, dumbed-down, fat and lazy has the American middle class become to prevent them from realizing a threat when they see it?

British historian Simon Schama predicts not only widespread civil unrest in America, but even a potential revolution if the elite allow the situation to spiral out of their control. Schama notes that Obama will have to ditch “misplaced obligations of civility” and become an authoritarian enforcer in order to emerge successful against the rising tide of Constitutionalist rage that will be directed against the coming austerity fascism.

As we documented in our article, the kind of public spending cuts, tax increases, salary caps, and retirement crackdowns that are now about to be implemented outstrip anything we’ve witnessed before in modern history. If the American middle class reacts to this total banker takeover by collectively scratching their butts and flipping the TV channel, the country as we know it is probably gone for good.

However, if Americans follow the example of the French and send a clear signal to the elite that they will refuse to participate in a rigged game, then a true revolution that will restore both political and economic freedom and prosperity will be set in motion.

With Americans buying silver to protect their savings and guns to protect themselves in record numbers, it seems that the message is at least getting through to some of the people, but until we see mass walk-outs, blockades and other acts of non-violent mass civil disobedience, the establishment will continue to move forward with onslaught after onslaught of financial pillaging.

Debt Grief Exposes Hidden Austerity And Looting Of Public Assets

with 2 comments

October 19, 2010: Eric Blair / Activist Post – October 18, 2010

The austerity sharks are circling their wounded prey.  The U.S. economy continues to collapse amid dwindling stimulus funds, while states are barely able to keep their heads above water. In addition to cutting vital services to taxpayers, and seeking tax increases, some states are also selling off public assets in the politically acceptable name of privatization. This mass looting is happening just below the surface where the public, buried by their own individual problems, can hardly tell that it is happening.

In June of this year Bloomberg reported that 46 states were facing bankruptcy with “Greek-style deficits,” where Dean Baker, co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research in Washington, was quoted as saying that “States are going to have to cut back spending and raise taxes the same way Greece and Spain are.” The article goes on to say:

“State budget woes are a worsening drag on growth as the federal government tries to wean the economy from two years of extraordinary support. By Jan. 1, funds from the $787 billion federal stimulus bill will dry up. That money from Washington has helped cushion state budgets as tax revenue has plunged.

“State leaders won’t be able to ride out this cycle the way they have in the past. The budget holes are too large. For the first time since 1962, sales and income tax revenue fell for five straight quarters, through December 2009, according to the Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government at the State University of New York at Albany.”

Despite the fact that average American citizens, much like the Greeks, had nothing to do with creating these massive “budget holes,” their Social Security is being raided, and public pensions have been invested in derivatives and other toxic time-bomb financial instruments.  Now, they will surely face austerity measures of similarly reduced benefits and services accompanied by increased taxes to absorb the damage.

Although spending cuts and smaller government through privatization might make sense when faced with growing deficits, we must be aware that austerity measures can also hide in the shadows of privatization.

Some politicians are touting the privatization of public services and assets as part of the economic solution. However, the public is being left out of the discussion about which services will be affected, what public assets are being sold, who is getting contracts or purchasing assets and, finally, to what benefit to the people. Given the self-serving track record of a crony corporate State, we can only assume the worst — that none of these actions will actually benefit average Americans, but only provide continued cover for more looting.

After generations of taxpayer-funded construction of buildings, highways, hospitals, jails, public water systems and the like, cash-strapped states are increasingly looking to sell off assets in order to meet budget shortfalls.  This trend seems to be led by Governors like Chris Christie (R-NJ), with many candidates like Meg Whitman of California saying his privatization model for New Jersey is just what the doctor ordered for California.  Meanwhile, California recently announced the sale of 24 government buildings to a private equity firm, following the “Economic Hitman” methodology where deliberately-suffocating public debt results in financial institutions ending up with all of the real assets at an extreme bargain.

Privatization can actually cost the government more in many cases, yet result in reduced pay and benefits for workers — a hidden form of austerity to be sure.  Even seemingly innocent privatization of things like toll booths and zoos, appears to be nothing more than austerity ploys by the government absolving itself from providing benefits like healthcare.  Incidentally, now that 29 of the largest private employers in the U.S. are conveniently exempt from the new healthcare mandates, it is likely that “Toll Booth Willie” will lose his benefits when his station is privatized.  Greek austerity protesters stormed the Acropolis for less.

In turn, privatization of public assets is taking place during a time of severe economic distress, therefore these assets rarely fetch their true value for the taxpayer. As John F. Kennedy said in his inaugural address: “Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate.”  Too often we are being forced to negotiate out of fear — fear of losing our job or benefits, our home, our retirement savings, and even our lives. Government uses this full-spectrum fear to impose heavy-handed legislation like monopoly healthcare or illegal pre-crime techniques used to catch the “terrorists.”

Additionally, privatization of vital government services seems to make little sense when we wind up paying more for those services, or where companies perform Big Brother duties that previously required government officials to swear an oath to the Constitution and our personal liberties.  For example, privatization of a war-making machine like Blackwater not only costs the public much more than the government’s own elite forces, but also poses the threat of unaccountable violence and even murder.  Furthermore, what is to stop foreign companies from buying up critical public assets through “private equity firms,” or corrupting governmental duties and turning them upon American citizens?

A somewhat recently privatized sector exemplifies the corrupting influence of privatization if not applied correctly (or legally):  the surveillance of American citizens.  It has been reported that over 800,000 private-sector workers have top secret clearance in their roles to monitor “extremist” activities in America.  To accentuate the insanity, even private foreign companies are getting Homeland Security contracts for these duties.  In addition to draining American taxpayers of money and rights, the privatizing of these activities is critically dangerous to our individual and national sovereignty in a way never seen before.  Even the most staunch small-government advocates must see the folly in such privatization.

The establishment would like to focus our debate toward public employees vs. public employees, unions or not, or big government vs. privatization; when in reality all possible solutions under the current corporate-state seem designed to suck the average citizen dry, while limiting services to just below riot-inducing levels. We’re told to be angry at a particular group that may get better pay and benefits than our own, all while the system and the Fed continue to inflate the cost of living for everyone through taxpayer-backed debt.

Whether it is called big government austerity, or small government privatization, it’s still a reduced standard of living and a blatant looting of the public.  This looting is meant to use the divisions between our separate groups as a distraction to enrich those without concern over such loyalties.

The Tonka Report Editor’s Note: I think the November elections will prove to be an utter disaster for the Democratic Party, thus creating a one-term President out of Obama, as I believe was intended.

But what’s most disconcerting to me is will this new euphoria of a perceived victory by the masses once again tranquilize and temporarily pacify the American people into yet another state of paralyzed inaction while the banksters continue their looting and the wars perpetually escalate, still not understanding the trap of the left-right paradigm that by and large the vast majority of Americans are apparently still oblivious to?

This is a pre-planned tactic by the globalists to do exactly that. Have the gullible American people so quickly forgotten the pre-scripted drama of the Bush to Obama transition of Hope and Change? End the Fed! – SJH

Iran Geo-Political Chess Game By Invoking 9/11 A US Checkmate?

with one comment

October 11, 2010: Eric Blair / Activist Post – October 11, 2010

Let’s set up the geopolitical chess board for a moment. Iran is a rogue nation according to the Western world. Which basically means that they sit on a sea of oil and don’t comply with the demands of the Western-based multinational oil firms. Iran has also made strong alliances with America’s oil-thirsty quasi-enemies China and Russia, while finding a partner-in-rogue in Venezuela.

To further aggravate the West’s agenda for global dominance, Iran’s banking system is not compliant with the private international banking cartel, therefore they can’t be enslaved by debt — the preferred method of ensuring nonviolent compliance. However, the West has recently captured a banking pawn by blacklisting the Iran-owned German-based EHI Bank under the authority of economic sanctions and accusations of benefiting from “weapons proliferation.”

Oh, and you may have also heard that Iran has achieved nuclear power against the will of the West — which seems to be the only storyline we’re allowed to discuss in the mainstream media — when will they have a nuclear weapon and how, when, and what is Israel and the West going to do to stop them?

Saturday’s Associated Press release summarized the current situation which is unfolding more like a spicy espionage novel everyday with embedded spies, highly developed computer viruses, and CIA kidnapped defectors refusing to be spies and much more diabolical intrigue:

“In recent weeks, Iran has announced the arrest of several nuclear spies and battled a computer worm that it says is part of a covert Western plot to derail its nuclear program. And in July, a nuclear scientist who Iran says was kidnapped by U.S. agents returned home in mysterious circumstances, with the U.S. saying he was a willing defector who was offered $5 million by the CIA but then changed his mind.

“The United States and its allies have vigorously sought to slow Iran’s nuclear advances through U.N. and other sanctions out of suspicion that Tehran intends to use a civil program as cover for developing weapons. Iran denies any such aim and says it only wants to generate nuclear power.”

Although Iran has always maintained that its nuclear program is for civilian energy purposes, it seems that if you’re a country who possesses natural resources like oil and wish to remain a sovereign nation, you must at least give the appearance of being capable of defending against outside threats — much like Saddam’s apparent illusiveness but actual impotence regarding Iraq’s WMDs. Ultimately, the West wanted Saddam’s resources, so they just took them by force.  And now, the West’s oil companies are being “awarded” with rich drilling contracts. In other words, checkmate.

The AP article also made breaking news that Iran has agreed to nuclear talks with the U.S. and other U.N security council countries:

“Tehran said Saturday that it was ready to hold nuclear talks with the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council – the U.S., Britain, France, Russia, China – as well as Germany in late October or early November. Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said the precise date was being discussed by the sides.”

Why is Iran now willing to have open discussions with the U.S. and the security council? Could it be that Iran finally feels like they have their foe’s king in check? It seems the move that puts them in this new found power position was Ahmadinejad using the grand U.N. stage to question the official events of 9-11, thus the pretext to invade Muslim lands. He laid out the following three scenarios about 9-11 which prompted the U.S. delegation to walk out in protest:

1 – That a “powerful and complex terrorist group” penetrated U.S. intelligence and defenses.

2 – “That some segments within the U.S. government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy and its grips on the Middle East in order also to save the Zionist regime. The majority of the American people as well as other nations and politicians agree with this view.”

3 – And, that the attack was the work of “a terrorist group but the American government supported and took advantage of the situation.”

It appeared that the establishment media didn’t really know how to handle Ahmadinejad’s comments. Of course they did their best to attack and label him as a conspiracy theorist, but they didn’t want the story to get too loud.  Since the media blackballs any guests that question 9-11 and violently shouts down anyone who dares bring up the subject, they’ve been able to essentially ignore and shape the topic as ludicrous.

Obama did his part to discredit Ahmadinejad’s statements by calling them “hateful” and “offensive.” Finally, the establishment media also tried to create the absurd impression that, “If you want further investigation into the biggest terror event ever, you must be with the terrorists and Ahmadinejad.” It seems that they are desperately running out of moves.

In turn, the problem for the establishment’s version of events is that the polls show Ahmadinejad to be correct that the majority of the global population now questions 9-11. One does not have to necessarily believe in any of the competing “conspiracy” theories to be 100% sure the official account is bogus. That’s precisely what gives Iran power. A power they used again recently when a spokesman for the Iran Foreign Ministry reiterated the claim that more than fifty percent of Westerners were now “suspicious” of the “dubious” nature of the 9-11 event, as reported by Press TV:

“Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast says half of people in Europe and America are suspicious of the September 11 events in the United States.

“’Many in the West blame the US government in the occurrence of the September 11 incident,’” IRNA reported Mehmanparast as saying at a press conference in the Iranian city of Isfahan on Thursday.

“He also made a reference to the recent visit of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to New York for a United Nations General Assembly session on the UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and said President Ahmadinejad’s ‘trip to the UN was a good opportunity to set forth Iran’s public diplomacy, which conveyed Iran’s message to the world.’”

“The spokesperson further pointed to the ‘dubious’ nature of the 9/11 event and said, ‘The US government needs to allow for the clarification of ambiguities regarding the incident and to refrain from jumping into hasty conclusions.’”

So, the more the establishment media continues to forcefully squash any legitimate questions about the greatest crime in modern history, the more guilty they appear of a cover-up.  Protecting their fictional account that was used to justify endless preemptive wars, torture, and the illegal surveillance of American citizens is becoming an impossible defense tactic. And Iran, armed with the truth that the official story is clearly untrue, now seems to have a stronger board position.

It will be interesting to watch if the West makes any concessions in the coming nuclear talks, and if Iran quits stoking the 9-11 truth debate — “we’ll keep quiet about 9-11 if you loosen some of the draconian sanctions on our country.”
