There’s an onslaught of UFO propaganda currently being pumped out to the public of late. Something very odd is brewing, and that is why I’m covering this subject… – SJH
Do you like a good UFO detective story?
Well, here’s one for you. And it’s ongoing, so we don’t yet know the ending.
It involves President John F. Kennedy’s interest in UFOs shortly before his death and an allegation that he may have angered officials in his administration when he asked for information on the subject.
Recently, the FBI opened a new website, “The Vault,” that lets you view a variety of documents, including those regarding UFOs.
I looked into one document that appears to include a phony UFO story and mentioned how important it is to be extremely careful when looking at UFO documents and how it’s critical to know the background of this information.
While researching materials for his new book, “A Celebration of Freedom: JFK and the New Frontier” (Wasteland Press), Atlanta, Ga., history teacher William Lester used the Freedom of Information Act to get some previously classified documents.
Two of them were written by Kennedy on the same date, Nov. 12, 1963 — 10 days before his assassination. One was to the CIA director, asking for UFO files (See JFK Doc 2); the other was to the NASA administrator, with Kennedy expressing a desire for cooperation with the former Soviet Union on mutual outer space activities (See JFK Doc 3).
“One of his concerns was that a lot of these UFOs were being seen over the Soviet Union and he was very concerned that the Soviets might misinterpret these UFOs as U.S. aggression, believing that it was some of our technology,” Lester told AOL News.
“I think this is one of the reasons why he wanted to get his hands on this information and get it away from the jurisdiction of NASA so he could say to the Soviets, ‘Look, that’s not us, we’re not doing it, we’re not being provocative. In fact, just to show you that it’s not us, what do you think about us working together on the exploration of space?'” Lester added.
Also in his book, Lester reprints an intriguing letter written by Maxwell W. Hunter of the National Aeronautics and Space Council (from the executive office of the president) to Robert F. Packard of the Office of International Scientific Affairs.
This is not the first time these and more provocative UFO-related documents have surfaced over the last several decades. Many files point to earlier presidents, Harry S. Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower, as also being interested in the UFO subject.
Perhaps the most intensely scrutinized documents ever to emerge on UFOs have come to be known as the Majestic 12 or MJ-12. This was a reference to a top-secret group of military officials and scientists allegedly appointed by Truman in 1947 to keep close tabs on the activities of alien beings on Earth after a reported UFO crash near Roswell, N.M. Let’s try to sort out the facts…
In 1984, the MJ-12 documents first appeared when a UFO researcher, Jaime Shandera, received a plain brown envelope that contained a roll of 35mm black-and-white film that developed into a multipage 1952 document — presumably created for Eisenhower — regarding something called “Operation Majestic 12.”
When the MJ-12 documents were eventually made public around 1987, skeptics poured out of the woodwork, condemning the documents as fraudulent and totally dismissing them.
To get some much needed credible information about the documents, I turned to Linda Moulton Howe, a renowned investigative reporter who explored the MJ-12 materials in 2008. An excellent, in-depth series of reports on her efforts to uncover the truth of the MJ-12 story can be found at her Earthfiles website.
“It’s the Catch-22 circle that counter-intel is so good at and they depend on it to divert 99 1/2 percent of the public and the media. And that is, you just put out the word ‘This is a hoax’ and the population accepts it, and they know that, and they have done this,” said Howe, a multiple Emmy Award-winning TV producer and critically acclaimed author of numerous books, including “Glimpses of Other Realities, Volumes I and II” (Linda Moulton Howe Productions).
“So, whether it’s swamp gas, weather balloons, hoaxes of hubcaps being thrown up into the air — the government’s efforts back in the late ’40s and early ’50s became preposterous and cartoonish to try to get control of a subject that they knew was absolutely critical,” Howe told AOL News.
The controversy surrounding MJ-12 is a prime example of the age-old “he said, she said” battle in the universe of UFO believers and skeptics.
But MJ-12 has taken on a life of its own because of the large volume of documents and the attention to detail within, including the verification process conducted by serious researchers into specific files that suggest government officials were unhappy with Kennedy’s interest in UFOs.
I contacted the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston, searching for information about JFK’s UFO interest. I was told they didn’t catalogue that kind of thing there, but they gave me the names of five Kennedy biographer/historians — Robert Dallek, James Giglio, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Michael O’Brien and Laurence Leamer.
When I reached out to them for any information they might provide, the responses ranged from “I can’t help you,” “I had not uncovered any information relating to JFK’s interest in UFOs” and “I’m afraid I know nothing about JFK’s interest in UFOs” to “I don’t know anything about it. Maybe when he heard ‘unidentified foreign objects,’ he thought they were European women.” So, I kept digging.
And Howe connected me with the man she worked closely with in 2008 on the MJ-12 documents. The conversation I had with physicist/aeronautical engineer Robert Wood, former deputy director of McDonnell Douglas — the major aerospace manufacturer and defense contractor — really opened my eyes…
McDonnell Douglas Studied UFOs In The 1960s
In the 1960s, Wood led a McDonnell Douglas team to study UFOs and he’s put a huge amount of investigative work into the MJ-12 documents. His website offers a stunning display of MJ-12 items, complete with individual document analysis, and he’s collaborated with Howe to piece together and authenticate these eye-opening files.
After a 43-year career with McDonnell Douglas, Wood retired in 1993. That, coupled with more than three decades of investigating UFOs, makes him a highly credible voice about the phenomenon.
At McDonnell Douglas, “We had authority to look at how UFOs might work, with gravity-controlled devices. And I hired (nuclear physicist) Stanton Friedman — it was the first job he ever had that paid him to study UFOs,” Wood said about the man widely considered the hardest-working UFO investigator today, who offers his own critique of MJ-12 skepticism and debunkers.
“There are those who believe (despite evidence to the contrary) that no alien spacecraft have ever visited Earth. Therefore, any documents saying that they have must be false,” Friedman pointed out. “No need to do a detailed investigation, to spend time in archives, research the people involved, etc. They must be fraudulent!”
Under the auspices of McDonnell Douglas, Friedman worked closely with Wood looking into reports, including stories told by alleged UFO abductees. “We didn’t get any breakthroughs and our report was never submitted to the government — it was a McDonnell Douglas project — and so we never told the government about it,” Wood said.
In the 1990s, Wood obtained a series of the MJ-12 documents, including something known as the “burned” memo — believed to have been written in the early 1960s — that was reportedly saved from being burned, presumably to forever hide important UFO information, including parts that referred to Kennedy.
The memo contains a reference to “Lancer,” which was John F. Kennedy’s Secret Service code name. The first page of the now-infamous burned memo (See JFK Doc 4), reportedly written by the director of Central Intelligence, said:
“As you must know, Lancer has made some inquiries regarding our activities, which we cannot allow. Please submit your views no later than October. Your action to this matter is critical to the continuance of the group.”
To authenticate the documents, Wood turned to forensics and linguistics specialists who carefully looked at things like the paper they were printed on, ink age, watermarks, font types and other markings.
“I hired a forensics company to check the age of the ink and to check several other things that you can date, using the same techniques you’d use in a court of law,” Wood explained. “And all the critics who wave their arms and say, ‘Well, you can duplicate anything,’ they forget about the fact that these documents actually showed up in the public domain long before our sophisticated techniques got on the market.
“I never figured out who the original document leaker was or what they thought I would do with it, other than what I’ve done, which has been to discuss it professionally, ethically and from a point of view of intellectual curiosity.”
After gathering all their information, Wood and his son, Ryan, produced a 2008 television documentary, “The Secret,” shown on the then Sci Fi Channel…
After exhaustive hands-on analysis of the MJ-12 documents, including the volatile burned memo, Wood came to some striking conclusions:
“I think the most important set of documents are the ones that show that we started this program in 1942, after recovering the first craft in 1941 — at the beginning of the war, just a few days after Pearl Harbor…
“The second most important set of documents, I think, is the one that links this to the JFK assassination, and that’s the burned memo…
“And the third most important documents were the ones that deal with what we were doing about it in the ’50s, how we were going to absorb the technology and reverse-engineer it, and how it would affect our entire structure of technology…
“That’s my assessment of its relative importance. The most important idea that people have not grasped at all is that this program started in early 1942. The second most important idea is that the program is not under the control of the president and when the president was about to leak it, they bumped him off.”
Wood’s implication that JFK was killed because of his interest in UFOs is startling, to say the least. But he’s not the only person who considers this a possibility.
“I think Kennedy was very interested in UFOs on several fronts,” Lester suggested after finishing his book on Kennedy’s life.
“There seemed to be kind of an idealistic scientific angle to it, but there was also this hardcore tactical angle that he was trying to successfully play, in what were very volatile times…
“It’s almost impossible for me to believe that there’s no connection. Now I couldn’t go into a courtroom and prove that there was a direct correlation, but I find it hard to believe that there’s no connection there.”
If this is all true, then it opens the biggest can of worms ever. And yet, Wood’s background and integrity shouldn’t be taken lightly.
“People always ask me, ‘How would the government keep a secret,’ because everybody knows that governments don’t keep secrets,” Wood said.
“As I got involved in classified work, I concluded a couple of things: the higher your clearance level and the more sophisticated the program was, the smarter the people were in the room, almost without exception…
“These guys get smarter and smarter the more complex it is or the more secret it is, and therefore, they are very clever and have a lot of enjoyment in figuring out how to accomplish their missions, which is to keep the public in the dark.”
Certainly Wood’s career achievements are not in dispute, so there doesn’t seem to be a reason for him to be lying or making this stuff up. And, by the way, he doesn’t think there’s just one group of ETs visiting us.
“There’s another dimension here that people don’t always integrate and that is, what’s the aliens’ role in this matter? I’m satisfied there’s at least six kinds and they each have their own agendas. It seems like the only thing that’s the same is that none of them really want to come out and openly admit that they’re here.”
Are the MJ-12 documents real or phony? So much mystery still swirls around the assassination of JFK. For conspiracy theorists this is only more fuel on the fire. To be sure, the debate will continue. But for now, with the information presented here, you can make up your own mind.
At the very least, it’ll give you something to wonder about…

[This is the single most heavily documented UFO case in the history of UFOs.]
Mission Hills, California — On March 11, 2011 and March 15, 2011, there are two Hollywood films being released… “Battle: Los Angeles”, a $100 million dollar film and “Battle Of Los Angeles”, which is being called a “Mockbuster” film.
The third film being made is Jose Escamilla’s “The Battle of Los Angeles.” This fact filled documentary reveals the truth of the early morning of February 25, 1942, which is the story premise behind the two Hollywood films.
In Jose Escamilla’s film, you are taken back to experience the Battle as it occurred. Over a million people witnessed our military firing at a huge UFO that hovered over Culver City, California for more than an hour and a half. The searchlights, the sirens and the military barrage against the Mystery Invader caused more damage to the neighborhoods below, than to the visitor itself. Thousands of rounds of anti-aircraft shrapnel were fired at what was described as being a five hundred foot in diameter craft from another world.
The UFO traveled slowly all the way down to Long Beach and it was assaulted again by military fire at Fort MacArthur still remaining unscathed by the fire power. The UFO headed southward toward Seal Beach when it suddenly darted back to Culver City. It again remained motionless above the communities below while the military opened up another barrage of fire. The UFO then hovered a half hour before flying away over the Pacific Ocean never to be seen again.
There were other occurrences that early morning. While the huge UFO was being attacked, many eyewitnesses reported seeing Mystery Planes high above in many parts of the skies over Southern California. These mystery planes numbered from ten to as many as fifty, that were coming in from the Pacific Ocean and being lit up by searchlights. Some of these mystery planes were silver in color and appeared like airplanes, but were traveling much faster and had a mysterious look to them. These mystery planes were also under attack. Ironically, there have been no records of any of the UFOs ever firing back.
The Battle of Los Angeles changed the lives of thousands of people that night. The details surrounding this incident make it the single most heavily documented UFO Case in the history of UFOs. This was the first time “a weather balloon” was used as an explanation by officials. This was the first time Official Denial was put in motion by authorities. This was the only time a UFO sighting was seen by Californians on a massive scale.
Jose Escamilla is currently in production on the film…

December 6, 2010: Steve Rose / The London Guardian (guardian.co.uk) – December 5, 2010
This is a fascinating read, and quite plausible given today’s technology! – SJH
When Wenlock and Mandeville, the official mascots of the London Olympic Games, were unveiled to the world in May, the general reaction was one of bemusement.
These stumpy, one-eyed, metallic-skinned creatures, the organisers explained, had formed out of stray drops of molten steel during the construction of the Olympic stadium, but most of the public and media simply interpreted them as aliens. What do monocular extraterrestrials have to do with the Olympics?
A year earlier, the 2012 Olympic logo was greeted with a similar mix of derision and puzzlement. Jaded observers passed off these designs as sorry reflections of the state of British creativity, but a small minority had a very different answer: we were being primed for the establishment of the New World Order, by means of the greatest hoax in history.
Even in conspiracy-theory terms, the London Olympics plot is a difficult one to swallow, but that hasn’t stopped a credulous minority from gulping it down. You’ll find them on cult conspiracy blogs such as Red Ice Creations, Godlike Productions and Above Top Secret, or even making their own video presentations on YouTube.
The basic scenario goes something like this: while the world’s eyes are on London in 2012, a spectacular alien invasion will take place at the Olympic stadium. Or so the public will think; it will actually be a hoax invasion, orchestrated by the New World Order as an excuse to stage a global coup d’etat.
Terrified by the appearance of aliens, the world’s populace will surrender their civil liberties, and “they” – a vague array of elite cliques such as the Bilderberg group, the Freemasons, the Illuminati, and dynasties such as the English royal family, the Rockefellers and the Rothschilds – will have smoothly achieved their goal of a single world government, economy and religion. It sounds like a cross between Dan Brown, the X-Files and Watchmen, but believers insist this stuff is real.
The evidence for such a plot is vague: exhibit A is the 2012 Olympic logo. Rearrange the four angular numerals of the bizarre design, the theorists say, and it really spells “zion”. There’s even a dot to go over the “i”. This is a sign that “they” plan to build the new Jerusalem right here in England’s green and pleasant land, just as William Blake’s poem predicted. The “dark satanic mills” of the Lea Valley will become the epicentre of the New World Order.
Conspiracy theorists insist there is nothing anti-semitic in their use of the word “zion”, although the suspicion is there. (Zionism and Judaism are diametrically opposed! – SJH)
The next giveaway is the street names around the Olympic site: Great Eastern Road, Carpenter’s Road, Angel Lane, Temple Mills Lane, Church Road – don’t they all seem a little biblical? Isn’t it strange that such a large patch of land has stood undeveloped in London all this time?
It goes on: Prince William is the obvious choice for king of this New Jerusalem because of his royal bloodline, his birthday (the 21 June – the summer solstice) and the fact that he will be 30 years old in 2012, the year of the 30th Olympiad, or XXX in roman numerals. Numerology counts for a lot in these circles.
And as for the fake UFO invasion, the theorists note the closing ceremony of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, in which a flying saucer landed in the stadium and an alien walked out and waved to the crowd. The staged spectacle, in which a blacked-out military helicopter lowered a model spaceship by cable into the Coliseum, did not prompt mass panic, but it has been interpreted as a warm-up.
The advocates of “London Zion”, as the theory has become known, have been poring over London Olympics promotional videos and finding a lot of suspicious symbolism in them – flying saucers and other spaceship-like objects, lights in the skies, stadiums in flames, all-seeing eyes. Then Wenlock and Mandeville came along and the theory really had legs, albeit stumpy alien ones.
“Once your eyes are open to it, it’s amazing what’s hidden in plain sight,” explains David (not his real name), the friend of a friend who first told me about the London plot a year ago. So in the name of curiosity, and, perhaps, the future of civilisation, we arranged to meet at the Olympics site to look for evidence. You can’t get into the site itself – construction continues apace and security is tight – but there are daily guided tours of the perimeter.
On a clear, chilly morning, as we wait outside Tesco for the tour to begin, David explains how most of the clouds in the sky are now man-made. Aeroplanes have been lacing the atmosphere with metal particulates for decades to facilitate holographic projection, he claims. That’s how they’ll pull off the UFO illusion. These “chemtrails” also enable the use of top-secret super-weapons that bounce energy off the upper atmosphere to remote locations. The Haiti earthquake was triggered this way.
David spends hours scouring the internet for conspiracy information, and stumbled on the Olympics plot theory two years ago on a blog called the Cosmic Mind, run by 28-year-old Rik Clay from Leeds. Clay was making a name for himself in these esoteric circles. As well as the Olympics, his blog discussed everything from the significance of the No 11 to crop circles to Princess Diana. But three months after the Cosmic Mind launched, it suddenly went down in August 2008. Clay had died. Internet forums were full of wild allegations about the cause of his death.
As the tour proceeds, David’s eyebrows rise at certain points, such as when the guide explains how they had to reroute power lines crossing the site 30 metres underground. “There’s bound to be a secret network of tunnels so that dignitaries can escape when it happens,” David says. Had the guide ever seen anything paranormal going on here? “What, you mean like flying saucers? No, nothing like that,” she laughs. David’s eyebrows rise again. No one mentioned flying saucers. The vast construction site looks fairly innocuous to me. David isn’t so sure. “What about that cross in the sky up there?” he says. Two short fragments of aeroplane contrail have formed a distinct cross in the sky directly over the stadium. That is good enough for him.
Unsurprisingly, the London Olympics organisers deny all knowledge of the conspiracy. “Since we launched the logo in 2007, many people have passed comment on it and have suggested it resembles different shapes or characters,” a spokesperson says. “This is a new one on us. The logo represents the figure 2012, nothing else.” The conspirary theory is far from cast-iron: you could make the word “zion” out of the numbers 2,0, 1 and 2 however you designed them. And while some of the road names around the site might sound biblical, the ones that don’t, such as Pudding Mill Lane, have been conveniently omitted. “Of course it sounds ridiculous,” David acknowledges.
And then he delivers the killer blow: “But if I had said to you 10 years ago that a few people were going to destroy the Twin Towers by flying planes into them, and that Britain and the US would start two wars as a result, would that have sounded believable?”
Just as the assassination of JFK and Watergate fuelled a golden age of paranoia, so the attacks of 11 September 2001 and its repercussions have ushered in a new, productive generation of conspiracy theories. It’s not just a fringe minority. In a 2006 poll by Scripps Howard/Ohio University, 36% of Americans agreed that the US government was either involved in the 9/11 attacks or did nothing to stop them. Another poll by Zogby in 2007 put the proportion at 26.4%.
Then again, polls this year also found that 18% of Americans believe Barack Obama is a Muslim and 27% believe he was born outside the US. Public credulity seems to be at an all-time high, or reliable information at an all-time low. For the conspiracy hardcore, though, 9/11, the London 7/7 attacks and other terrorist incidents are what’s known as “false flag” operations; hoax attacks designed to advance the conspirators’ agenda, and the London Olympics plot is the next one.
Rik Clay’s Olympics theory was chiefly inspired by another British researcher, Ian R Crane, whom he saw speaking at an event in Glastonbury in 2007. A former oil industry executive, Crane is something of a heavy hitter on the conspiracy circuit. He regularly holds public lectures and releases DVDs on what he calls “deep geopolitics”, and claims to have predicted the BP Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster, and pre-empted a failed terrorist attack in Chicago in 2006.
It was Crane who first deciphered the “Zion” in the Olympic logo, and who suggested a fake UFO invasion was being planned. “We’ve seen the abilities of computer graphics in Hollywood movies,” he says. “It doesn’t take much to recast that fantasy as something that’s then presented as a reality.”
Crane also acknowledges that the Olympics conspiracy sounds crazy, but “it’s only when one puts it into context with the much deeper geopolitical agenda that it starts to have some basis,” he says. He sketches out this context in dizzying strokes. How the recent financial meltdown was deliberately planned, purported links between Obama adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski and extreme right wing think tanks, Henry Kissinger and global warming.
“They’re all inextricably linked,” he says. “What we’re really looking at here is a web of intrigue that actually goes back a long way. The individuals who believe themselves to be the rightful rulers of the planet have some concern about what the very short-term future holds. In their belief system, they feel they need to have total planetary control by 2012.”
Crane and Clay exchanged emails, but never met. Crane doesn’t think there was anything suspicious about Clay’s death. Nor do others close to Clay, including his parents, who have been understandably distressed not just by the death of their son but by the subsequent internet rumours. “There have been many outlandish ideas put forward about Rik’s death, some that beggar belief, but most have come from people ignorant of the real facts and who have been too lazy to do their research,” says John Clay, Rik’s father. “An autopsy was carried out and an inquest held at Bradford coroners court in February 2009.
The official verdict was that Rik took his own life while the balance of his mind was disturbed.” There were clear pointers to where Rik was heading, says John. A few weeks before his death, he had suffered some form of mental breakdown. He had jumped out of a third-floor window, fracturing his heel. His parents took him in for six weeks. “During his time with us he was not the Rik that we knew and was mostly very withdrawn,” says John. “He told us that he had things in his head that shouldn’t be there but would not elaborate, which was quite normal for Rik – he would only tell you what he wanted you to hear. Rik could be quite obsessional.”
Another close friend of Rik’s also believes his death was caused by a combination of his work and his mental health: “It’s a stressful arena, conspiracy stuff. You can’t trust anything any more. What level do you take it to? If you’re passionate and paranoid, it can really take over, and I think that’s what happened with Rik. He wanted to get to the bottom of everything. Unfortunately the result of that was that he pulled apart his own reality.”
One of the problems with many conspiracy theories is that, unlike scientific theories, they’re impossible to definitively prove wrong. Any attempt to do so invites accusations that you’re in on them. Conversely, labelling something as a “conspiracy theory” is a convenient way to close down political debate or a challenge to authority by painting the theorists as wackos.
Tony Blair described his critics as obsessed with conspiracy during the Chilcot inquiry earlier this year, just as George Bush in 2001 urged the UN not to tolerate “outrageous conspiracy theories” about the 9/11 attacks. Neutral observers point out that regardless of their content, conspiracy theories are “unofficial” knowledge, and therefore threaten institutions of official knowledge, such as academia and journalism. The two sides resemble each other more than they would like to admit.
The London Olympics theory is an intriguing case, not least because it actually makes a prediction. Either something will happen in 2012 or it won’t: the theory will be right or wrong. What will people such as David do if nothing happens? “I’ll be really bloody surprised,” he says, “but if nothing happens, I’d say that the forces of good behind the scenes, like us, saved the day and the forces of evil were stopped.”

LONDON (BNO NEWS) — WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on Friday in an online chat with the British newspaper The Guardian said that some of the upcoming U.S. diplomatic cables address unidentified flying objects (UFOs).
Assange was asked by a visitor of The Guardian whether WikiLeaks had ever received any documents relating to UFOs or extraterrestrials. In response, Assange said they receive many e-mails which relate to UFOs.
“Many weirdos email us about UFOs or how they discovered that they were the anti-christ whilst talking with their ex-wife at a garden party over a pot-plant,” Assange wrote. “However, as yet they have not satisfied two of our publishing rules,” he added, referring to WikiLeaks rules which state that documents cannot be self-authored and have to be original.
However, Assange said they do have real material which relates to UFOs. “It’s worth noting that in yet-to-be-published parts of the cablegate archive there are indeed references to UFOs,” he said, without providing other information. WikiLeaks is currently in the process of publishing some 251,287 U.S. diplomatic cables it claims to have. As of Friday, however, only 667 cables were released.
The Tonka Report Editor’s Note: “Today, America would be outraged if UN troops entered Los Angeles to restore order. Tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially true if they were told that there were an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated! That threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of the world will plead to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well-being granted to them by the world government.” – Henry Kissinger (Bilderberg Meeting 1991)
