KY Votes Rand Paul – “We’ve Come To Take Our Government Back”

May 18, 2010: Perry Bacon Jr. / The Washington Post – May 18, 2010

“I have a message from the tea party,” he told several hundred supporters at a country club in this western Kentucky town where he lives. “A message that is loud and clear and does not mince words. We’ve come to take our government back.”
Casting his victory as part of the larger success of the tea party movement, he said, “what you have done and what we are doing can transform America.” “It’s a nationwide movement,” he added, “What I say to Washington is watch out, here we come.”
Paul was joined on stage by his father, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.) who in his 2008 presidential campaign touted many of the same anti-government themes that drove his son’s victory.

Ron Paul did not speak during the rally, but beamed as he talked to reporters afterward about the victory. “It symbolizes the growth of the freedom movement,” Ron Paul said.

Rand Paul’s unlikely victory completed an unusual journey from a virtual unknown in this state who had never held office before to the GOP Senate nominee. He easily defeated Trey Grayson, Kentucky’s secretary of state, who had been endorsed by many powerful figures in the state.

“I know one man can’t do anything by himself, but this is a good start,” said Louie Floyd, who said he drove more than 100 miles to attend the Paul event. “People in Washington are just spending too much money. ‘

Film Director Woody Allen Says Obama Should Become A Dictator!

with one comment

May 18, 2010: Kurt Nimmo / Infowars – May 18, 2010

It is another example of the mindset of the Hollywood lib elite. Film director Woody Allen — who demonstrated his warped ethos a few years ago by marrying his adopted daughter — believes Obama would get more done if he declared himself dictator.

“I am pleased with Obama. I think he’s brilliant. The Republican Party should get out of his way and stop trying to hurt him,” Allen said in an interview published by Spanish language monarchist newspaper La Vanguardia. “It would [be] good… if he could be a dictator for a few years because he could do a lot of good things quickly.”

Sort of like Mussolini’s idea of making the trains run on time? Allen is frustrated with American politics and pines for the simplicity of a dictatorship. As a member of the intellectual elite, Woody Allen has no patience for the political demands of the little people who are currently flocking in droves to the Tea Party movement and embracing the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Allen’s comment that the Republican Party should get out of Obama’s way is a demand that the people sit down and shut up. Establishment Republicans do not oppose the Obama agenda of large government. Establishment Republicans are merely miffed they are not able to impose a neocon version of leviathan government. Republicans prefer bloated and grotesque military budgets to drive the nation into unsustainable debt owed to bankers while Democrats prefer social programs to accomplish the same objective.

There is essentially no difference between Democrats and Republicans, as the insider Carroll Quigley noted. Obama is run by the same Wall Street crowd and Goldman Sachs functionaries as his predecessor. Democrats and Republicans are interchangeable with minor cosmetic difference to fool the plebs.

Socialist intellectuals invariably end up advocating and supporting totalitarianism. They are viscerally opposed to classical liberalism — the ideal of limited government and liberty of individuals including freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and free markets. Socialist intellectuals have nothing but contempt for the fact individual rights are natural, inherent, inalienable, and exist independently of government. Government is everything for the socialists, including the Hollywood limo lib variety of socialist. History is riddled with intellectuals who have supported communism and fascism, both derived from Marxist theory. Both strive for statist absolutism. Both end up in mass slavery and misery.

The comic director Woody Allen should take heed. Dictators invariably turn on their faithful ideologues and slogan chanting supporters. Hitler had his Night of the Long Knives and Stalin his endless purges that terminated in execution and disappearance into gulags.

Obama Snubs Any Questions At Signing Of The Press Freedom Act

leave a comment »

May 18, 2010: Paul Joseph Watson / Prison – May 18, 2010

President Obama’s plummeting approval ratings have coincided with his increasing disdain for talking to the media, a trend embarrassingly highlighted yesterday during Obama’s signing of the Press Freedom Act, after which he refused to answer any questions from the press.

The new law Obama signed mandates the State Department to include a breakdown of press freedoms in their annual human rights report detailing the situation country by country. But Obama’s reaction to being asked questions by the U.S. media served only to highlight the decline in American standards of press freedom.

“Recall that last Friday the president refused to take any questions after delivering his angry statement on the oil spill in the Rose Garden. And he has not held a prime-time White House news conference in many months, despite much pleading from pundits and members of the media,” reports CBS News’ Chip Reid.

In a follow up video interview, Reid said “the irony was too rich to resist” asking Obama questions about the BP oil spill. Reid said he expected Obama to refuse questions but asked anyway. “In the interest of press freedom, might you consider a couple of question on BP,” said Reid, adding that Obama gave a wry smile but refused to answer. Obama responded that Reid could ask questions but when someone asked Obama if he would answer he said, “well this is not a press conference today, we’ll be getting back to you later in the week”.

Reid added that the press corps were frustrated that Obama has done so few press conferences and refuses to take questions that are impromptu and not pre-scripted. Obama campaigned on the promise of making government open and transparent and yet he is increasingly becoming one of the most closeted and secretive Presidents in U.S. history.

“What’s ironic is that the self-proclaimed “most transparent” administration in history has violated this bill many times through censorship and limiting access to news organizations that don’t share the same radical ideology,” points out the Habledash blog. “As recently as last week, the White House announced it would be using their website and other social media sites to release information, instead of through the mainstream press. The purpose of this is so the White House can release its own propaganda directly to the American people without any criticism or evaluation by a third party – the press in this situation.”

Scientists Worry Loop Current Could Carry Oil To The Florida Keys

leave a comment »

May 18, 2010: Jeffrey Collins and Matt Sedensky / Associated Press (AP) – May 17, 2010

ROBERT, La. – With BP finally gaining some control over the amount of oil spewing into the Gulf of Mexico, scientists are increasingly worried that huge plumes of crude already spilled could get caught in a current that would carry the mess all the way to the Florida Keys and beyond, damaging coral reefs and killing wildlife.

Scientists said the oil will move into the so-called loop current soon if it hasn’t already, though they could not say exactly when or how much there would be. Once it is in the loop, it could take 10 days or longer to reach the Keys.

“It’s only a question of when,” said Peter Ortner, a University of Miami oceanographer. The U.S. Coast Guard reported that 20 tar balls were found off Key West on Monday, but said a lab analysis would have to determine their origin. The Florida Park Service during a shoreline survey found the balls that were about 3-to-8 inches in diameter.

In the month since an offshore drilling platform exploded, killing 11 workers, BP has struggled to stop the leak, trying in vain to activate emergency valves and lowering a 100-ton box that got clogged with icy crystals. Over the weekend, the oil company finally succeeded in using a stopper-and-tube combination to siphon some of the gushing oil into a tanker, but millions of gallons are already in the Gulf.

The loop current is a ribbon of warm water that begins in the Gulf of Mexico and wraps around Florida. Some scientists project the current will draw the crude through the Keys and then up Florida’s Atlantic Coast, where the oil might avoid the beaches of Miami and Fort Lauderdale but could wash up around Palm Beach.

Many scientists expect the oil to get no farther north than Cape Canaveral, midway up the coast, before it is carried out to sea and becomes more and more diluted. The pollution could endanger Florida’s shoreline mangroves, seagrass beds and the third-longest barrier reef in the world, the 221-mile-long Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, which helps draw millions of snorkelers, fishermen and other tourists whose dollars are vital to the state’s economy.

Pollutants can smother and kill corals — living creatures that excrete a hard exterior skeleton — or can hinder their ability to reproduce and grow. That, in turn, could harm thousands of species of exotic and colorful fish and other marine life that live in and around reefs.

In other developments:

• Chris Oynes, who oversees offshore drilling programs at the federal Minerals Management Service, will retire at the end of the month, becoming the Interior Department’s first casualty of the disaster. Oynes has been criticized as too cozy with the oil industry.

• The White House will establish a presidential commission to investigate the spill, according to an administration official speaking on condition of anonymity.

• California Sen. Barbara Boxer and other Democrats are calling on the Justice Department to open a criminal investigation.

• BP said it has spent $500 million on the spill so far.

• The oil company said it will never again try to produce oil from the well, though it did not rule out drilling elsewhere in the reservoir. “The right thing to do is permanently plug this well, and that’s what we will do,” said Doug Suttles, BP chief operating officer.

William Hogarth, dean of the University of South Florida’s College of Marine Science, said one computer model showed oil had already entered the loop current, while a second model showed the oil was three miles from it. Mike Sole, Florida’s environmental protection secretary, said the edge could still be two to 18 miles away.

BP said it is having some success with a mile-long tube that is funneling a little more than 42,000 gallons of crude a day from the well into a tanker ship. That would be about a fifth of the 210,000 gallons the company estimated is gushing out each day, though scientists who have studied video of the leak say it could be much bigger.

Crews will slowly increase how much they are collecting over the next few days. They need to move slowly to prevent the formation of the ice-like crystals that doomed the effort to lower a big concrete-and-steel box over the blown-out well.

BP initially said it hoped the system would capture most of the leaking oil, but Suttles said Monday that officials would be pleased if the tube eventually sucks up half of it.

The siphoning is not a permanent solution. BP is preparing to shoot a mixture known as drilling mud into the well later this week in a procedure called a “top-kill” that would take several weeks but, if successful, would stop the flow altogether. Two relief wells are also being drilled to pump cement into the well to close it, but that will take months.

Chemicals being sprayed underwater are helping to disperse the oil and keep it from washing ashore in great quantities, but researchers said that in recent days they have discovered miles-long underwater plumes of oil that could poison or suffocate sea life across the food chain, with damage that could last for a decade or more.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Monday that the researchers’ announcement of the oil plumes was premature and that further tests are needed to confirm that the plumes detected were indeed caused by the blowout.

OK Miss USA Contestant Supports Arizona Illegal Immigration Law

leave a comment »

May 18, 2010: Kurt Nimmo / Infowars – May 17, 2010

During the Miss USA 2010 competition last night, judge Oscar Nunez asked first runner up Miss Oklahoma USA, Morgan Elizabeth Woolard, if she supports Arizona immigration bill SB 1070.

“I’m a huge believer in states’ rights. I think that’s what’s so wonderful about America,” Woolard said. “So I think it’s perfectly fine for Arizona to create that law.” She also added that she is against racial profiling.

Nunez was booed by the crowd as he posed the question. Fox News would later ask if Nunez’s question was an effort to sabotage Woolard.

The corporate media today is attempting to downplay Woolard’s support for states’ rights by comparing her response to that of Miss California Carrie Prejean who said she did not believe in gay marriage.

Prejean has subsequently endured intense criticism for her belief and was stripped of the Miss California USA crown for alleged breaches of contract. Homosexual pageant judge Perez Hilton called her a “dumb bitch” and stated that she had lost her crown because she did not give a politically correct answer to the question.

Since Arizona passed SB 1070, the corporate media has attempted to portray it as racist and unconstitutional. The law specifies that police questioning of an illegal immigration suspect can take place only in the context of a “lawful stop, detention, or arrest” and not as a result of racial profiling.

A poll conducted by Pew Research Center found that 62 percent of those surveyed nationally supported allowing police to question illegal immigrants and 59 percent said they approved of the Arizona law that takes effect July 29.

Rima Fakih, a Lebanese immigrant from Michigan, was crowned Miss USA 2010. “I believe that birth control is just like every other medication even though it’s a controlled substance,” Ms. Fakih said in response to her politically correct question.

Fakih should have been held to account on her question. Birth control “medication” is not a controlled substance. It is not included in schedule I, II, III, IV, or V of part B of the Controlled Substances Act.
