Global Warming Fraud: Debunking Myth Polar Bears Are Drowning!

with 48 comments

July 2, 2009: Steven John Hibbs / The Tonka Report (TTR) – July 2, 2009

Ursus Maritimus is the scientific name for Polar Bear. Ursus in Latin means “bear”, while maritimus in Latin means “of the sea”. In Greek, Ursus maritimus literally translates to “Sea Bear”. Now seriously, does that sound like an animal that can’t swim?

Meanwhile, why don’t we take a look at the profile and the actual population increase of the “sea bear”, claimed by the global warming Cap and Trade scam artists as declining and drowning as a result of increased CO2 and alleged rising temperatures which have actually decreased 0.7 degrees Celcius since 1998 as the Arctic sea ice has actually increased over 30%. Do the research!

National Geographic / Polar Bear Profile

“Polar bears roam the Arctic ice sheets and swim in that region’s coastal waters. They are very strong swimmers, and their large front paws, which they use to paddle, are slightly webbed. Some polar bears have been seen swimming hundreds of miles from land—though they probably cover most of that distance by floating on sheets of ice.

“Polar bears live in one of the planet’s coldest environments and depend on a thick coat of insulated fur, which covers a warming layer of fat. Fur even grows on the bottom of their paws, which protects against cold surfaces and provides a good grip on ice. The bear’s stark white coat provides camouflage in surrounding snow and ice. But under their fur, polar bears have black skin—the better to soak in the sun’s warming rays.

“These powerful predators typically prey on seals. In search of this quarry they frequent areas of shifting, cracking ice where seals may surface to breath air. They also stalk ice edges and breathing holes. If the opportunity presents itself, polar bears will also consume carcasses, such as those of dead whales. These Arctic giants are the masters of their environment and have no natural enemies.”

North American Bear Center / Polar Bear Facts

“Taxonomy: The scientific name for the polar bear is Ursus maritimus, which means ‘Sea Bear’ in the Greek language.

“Distribution and Population: Polar bears are found throughout the ice-covered waters of the Arctic region and prefer to remain out on the sea ice all year if possible.  The sea ice provides a platform from which polar bears can hunt.  As the ice retreats north during the summer months, polar bears travel with the ice floes and continue to hunt seals (Stirling and Guravich 1990, p 61).

“Polar bears are usually found in the northern marine areas of Alaska, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Norway’s Svalbard Archepelago, Greenland and Canada (Lynch 1993, p 5).

“Scientists estimate there are between 25,000 to 40,000 polar bears in the world.  They also believe the polar bear population is divided into 6 core populations, with members of each core never mingling with the other core populations (Lynch 1993, p 6).”

The Great Global Warming Swindle

Global Warming Or Global Governance?

The Tonka Report Editor’s Note: The IPCC, Cap and Trade, and the entire global warming green movement is a New World Order religion in order to strip away our remaining freedoms and tax the living hell out of us all while controlling every aspect of our lives, from what we eat to what we drive, from where we live to how many children we can have. It’s a eugenics scam to consolidate their assets and depopulate the planet! SJH

  1. You are an idiot. Growing populations are the root problem of almost every environmental issue the world faces (response to your closing line).

  2. Hans,

Hey jackass, why don’t you just settle down and go take your H1N1 vaccine and save the world from another “environmental issue” – yourself!

  3. Haha, you make me laugh. Does anyone actually believe what you are saying? If so, that’s pretty funny…but even more funny is that you start with “Do the research?”, and then fill this argument with empty responces to “liberal” ways of thinking…arguments that have nothing to do witht the original topic and have no basis! Anyone reading this should do their own research, using legitimate and educated information, before believing a word of what you say.

  5. SJH, I am simply astounded by the extent to which you are a moron. Yes, polar bears can swim, but thats not the issue at hand. Nor is the total amount of ice in the arctic during the winter months. The amount of ice in the arctic fluctuates severely throughout the seasons. The problem is that summer ice levels are at record lows. During the winter months polar bears migrate to areas south of the arctic circle, including Greenland and Svalbard. When they swim back in the spring/summer however, the increased melting means they have to swim much further on the return trip then when they left. It is this distance that is problematic for polar bears, as well as the difficulty of fishing in areas with little ice causing food to be inaccessible. Learn some science or stfu.

  6. Hey Thor… “god” of Blunder!

Your name calling and rhetoric hold no thunder.

Learn some science or “stfu”? What science did you produce? Are you talking about the same people that just got busted by ClimateGate? The same criminals that were paid to “peer review” one another while excluding the real science to promote the AGW fraud? You mean those guys, right?!

    Read this…

  7. It truly amazes me at the people who will follow the liberal Pied Pipers of the left into the waters to drown and yet never do any research on the subject when it is right here at your finger tips. It’s not that you can’t do it, it’s that if you do do it and find out that your Messiah has been lying to you all this time,
“What will you do and will you be able to look yourself and your kids in the eye and admit that you were wrong and mislead”. YOU’RE simply afraid to do the research for fear that you will find out that you have been lied to. Open your eyes. You will believe everything that Gore and the rest of the global warming idiots have to say but not admit that this might be a huge Bait and Switch Ponzi Scheme and unfortunately you are not smart enough to figure it out because of your misplaced hatred that has been fueled by the biased left media who make their money selling you useless trivia. Where do you think that Gores net worth that went from a couple of million to 30-40 million came from?
The earth is constantly going through changes why do you think that this is any different. The biggest changers comes from man building these huge forests of concrete called cities and cutting down the forest for grazing fields and with that comes the weather pattern changes. Do you know what causes a glacier to either grow or shrink? If you don’t then how can you say that man is at fault by producing co2 which by the way is plant food that they turn into oxygen so you can breathe? With every breath you breathe out CO2 ,so maybe we should get rid of you and all the global warming fanatics and then the earth will be better off. We can send you all to the moon. Do you remember in the 70’s the same people who are now screaming global warming were at that time screaming global cooling but there wasn’t enough money in it so they change to global warming and whipped up this frenzy. Just follow the money and you will see who is doing what to who and why.

  9. All the research I have done(exhaustively I might add), has led me to the inescapeable conclusion that, the only drowned bears were in fact drugged by researchers and drowned by drugs. Can you document any other drownings? I defy anyone to produce any facts that support the claim that bears are drowning due to any other causal elements.

  10. Theodore,

Touche, brother! Interesting hypothesis and one that quite frankly, I had never thought of. The fact is, where is there ANY evidence of polar bears drowning from any cause whatsoever other than a freak storm that may possibly kill them while out at sea if they are old, sickened, or injured? With that said, show me the proof and I’m with you on the drug issue because I think it is quite plausable…

With that said, show me the proof and I’m with you on the drug issue because I think it is quite plausable” UH ARE YOU MENTALLY INCOMPETENT?! (freak storm) WHAT freak storm? why would there be new spikes in the weather?? uh Global Warming!! duhh (are old) so they all are the same age and all die around the same time? no new offspring to equalize the number? Why is it that the offspring are dieing? cough cough** Global Warming! The fact that they cant swim as far the fact that the parents cant get them the food they need if they cant get to the food! (sickened) what new illness is killing them off?? (injured) From what new predator?? “Can you document any other drownings” fom Theodore Kemper. UM if you see something drowning do you stand and watch? Is someone watching them to see if they drown, NO! THE FACTS SAY THE ONLY PLAUSIBLE REASON FOR THEM DIEING IS THE ICE MELTING! AND WHY IS IT MELTING? TAKE A EDUCATED GUESS YOU INCOMPETENT RETARD! common sense is a gift, A GIFT YOU NEVER RECEIVED!

  21. What would say about the academic papers published that claim that the extent of sea ice in Western Hudson bay is breaking up earlier, due to increased air temperatures, resulting in shortened spring feeding times for bears- resulting in malnourishment Can you show me where you got your data from?
I’ve been researching this issue for many years and I’ll be gladly to direct you to my data.

  22. typo^ what would “you” say

    erik m

    March 8, 2010 at 12:57 pm

  23. Erik M,

I would say that the “academic” papers you speak of are no more reliable than the “peer review” papers manufactured from the CRU or IPCC.

I would say that polar bears have increased in number from 5,000 in the 1970’s to 40,000 today.

I would say that just like ClimateGate, the Himalayan glacier fraud, the Amazon rain forest fraud, and the fact that Jones of the IPCC admitted there has been no warming since 1995, that the demise of the polar bear is yet another fraud to play on the fears of the people.

I would say that the entire cult of AGW is funded by Big Oil and the international banks.

I would say that you, sir, are very misinformed and have been led astray from the facts…

In a report titled The First Global Revolution (1991) published by the Club of Rome, a globalist think tank whose members have included Kissinger, David Rockefeller and Al Gore, we find the following statement:

“In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill…. All these dangers are caused by human intervention… The real enemy, then, is humanity itself.”

In the past, the Club of Rome has resorted to deceptive tactics in order to support their plans. In 1972, the Club of Rome, along with an MIT team released a report called Limits to growth . The report stated that we were to reach an environmental holocaust by the year 2000 due to overpopulation and other environmental problems. Support for their conclusions was gathered by results from a computer model. Aurelio Peccei, one of the founders of the Club of Rome, later confessed that the computer program had been written to give the desired results.

  24. Hi Steven. This is the first time I’ve read anything on your site and am still not sure if I believe your accusations. Part of what is your lack of sources… all I can seem to find are basic links to National Geographic and about the general nature of polar bears.

Then when you a defending your article in comments you keep referring to another page on your own website. Do you have any research that is off site and on topic?

    March 16, 2010 at 2:24 pm

    • ^Sorry for the typo “Part of what is TROUBLESOME is your lack of sources”

      March 16, 2010 at 2:27 pm

  25. Reluctant,

Had you opened the link that I provided from my “own website”, you would have realized that the link brings you to an archive of dozens and dozens of articles, documentaries, and videos accompanied by hundreds of hyperlinks that are all sourced concerning the hoax of man-made global warming and the fraud of the polar bear’s demise being used to play on the heart strings of the ignorant public who get their information from falsified “peer review” documents.

It’s a big canvass, and until you can see the finished picture of the jigsaw puzzle, you’ll never know where the pieces fit in. Do the research. It’s all here…

  26. This would be more convincing if it didn’t quote people who think ursus maritimus is Greek

    Mark Twang

    January 1, 2011 at 8:34 pm

  27. Mark Twang,

Ursus Maritimus is the scientific name for Polar Bear. Ursus in Latin means “bear”, while maritimus in Latin means “of the sea”. In Greek, Ursus maritimus literally translates to “Sea Bear”.

Those are the opening words of this article… Or did you not understand them?!

Since the Inuit (Inupiaq) language has been around for far longer than either the Latin or Greek languages, then the correct name for the polar bear, or sea bear aka ursus maritimus, should really be…

“nanook” (transliterated as nanuq in the Inupiaq language.)

The English word “bear” comes from Old English bera and belongs to a family of names for the bear in Germanic languages, in origin from an adjective meaning “brown”.[32] In Scandinavia the word for bear is björn (or bjørn), and is a relatively common given name for males. The use of this name is ancient and has been found mentioned in several runestone inscriptions.[33] In Germanic culture, the bear was a symbol of the warrior, as evident from the Old English term beorn which can take the meaning of both “bear” and “warrior”.

The reconstructed Proto-Indo-European name of the bear is *h₂ŕ̥tḱos, whence Sanskrit r̥kṣa, Avestan arša, Greek ἄρκτος, Latin ursus, Welsh arth (whence perhaps the given name “Arthur”). Also compared is Hittite ḫartagga-, the name of a monster or predator.[32] In the binomial name of the brown bear, Ursus arctos, Linné simply combined the Latin and Greek names.

In addition, the Proto-Indo-European word for bear, *h₂ŕ̥tḱos (ancestral to the Greek arktos, Latin ursus, Welsh arth (cf. Arthur), Albanian ari, Armenian arj, Sanskrit ṛkṣa, Hittite ḫartagga) seems to have been subject to taboo deformation or replacement in some languages (as was the word for wolf, wlkwos), resulting in the use of numerous unrelated words with meanings like “brown one” (English bruin) and “honey-eater” (Slavic medved).[34] Thus some Indo-European language groups do not share the same PIE root. The theory of the bear taboo is taught to almost all beginning students of Indo-European and historical linguistics; the putative original PIE word for bear is itself descriptive, because a cognate word in Sanskrit is rakṣas, meaning “harm, injury”.[35]

Your obviously inaccurate accusation fails without any merit or truth whatsoever…

Splitting hairs on the language origination does not diminish the premise of the article, nor does it invalidate the truth that global warming is a fraud, as is the prevaricated demise of nanook! That is the point of this piece, Mark Twang…

“Ah, well, I am a great and sublime fool. But then I am God’s fool, and all His work must be contemplated with respect.” Mark Twain

Furthermore, please don’t disrespect the names of the legendary luminaries like Mark Twain with your own misguided ignorance. It’s both an insult to their legacy and to all of us who can actually still think critically, and proves you just a fool…

“Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.” Mark Twain

  28. Mr Hibbs, you are absolutely right sir. I live in the UK, and when our government started blanketing the media with scientists backing up the government’s version, all of whom were being paid by my govt to do so, many scientists (who were not being bribed by the government) immediately spoke out to the media to tell the truth – that global warming is no more than the latest governmental money-making scheme with the added benefits to those in power of being an excuse to erode our rights and civil liberites. It’s all part of a wider machination. Anyone who thinks that this is an alarmist, ‘tinfoil helmet nut’ view, look at the behaviours of the US and UK governments in the last decade. How much of what they do seems to make sense, or is in the best interests of their people, and how much of it appears utterly insane?
